Rear Windscreen Wiper

Am I right in thinking that Land Rover modified the rear windscreen wiper arm to stop the thing sticking and only wiping half the rear window when it gets covered in crud Question

My 06 HSE has suffered from this problem since I bought it and I have put up with it for the last 3 years, giving the wiper arm a squirt of oil on the hinge point every now and then. Now though, I could do with a new rear wiper blade so thought I'd investigate the possibility of replacing the whole arm assembly if LR have come up with one that doesn't stick when dirty.[/b]

Shame there's been no reply as I have the same issue with my 06 D3.
Did you find another thread with the answer?

No, not a thing. I've done a search but came up with nothing really relevant so maybe it was just wishful thinking on my part that LR had modified the wiper arm in some way. Maybe everybody has this problem.

C'mon then, all you owners of 07, 08 and 09 MY cars (perhaps even 10 MY cars now). Your views would be appreciated.

Does your rear wiper stick at the hinge point when its covered in the crap that gets thrown up all over the back in typical winter weather?

Do you have to clean and lubricate it regularly to stop it from sticking?

If not, why not?

Confused sorry never saw this thread before today.

My 06 HSE's wiper arm was replaced with the new type of wiper arm by the dealer on it's 1st service because of this problem, you can tell if this has been done under warranty by looking inside the wiper arm if there is a white spot then it has been changed. Since the arm was changed I have never had a problem with the wiper sticking or missing parts of the screen.

Thanks Woody Thumbs Up - so I wasn't imagining it after all!

Must get me one of them. Wish I'd asked for one when the car was still in warranty but hey ho! Sad

Like Woody, I never saw this thread before, sorry.

Mines an early 07MY, and dealer swapped mine out under warranty because it had bonded solid at the hinge.
I didn't even have to ask, they just noticed it and did it.
It's been fine since even with enough crud to make the glass the same colour as the paint.

On my MY05 the wiper seems to stick half way across the screen. Turning off and on seems to add some power therefore I did that.

Don't really care, as it's a V8 I only look ahead to avoid crashing into others instead of looking in the rear view mirror seeing if someone would like to overtake. Laughing

No idea, but it was changed under warranty when I had the last service done as it was knackered.
I hadn't noticed to be fair, the dealer pointed it out.

Mine sticks and it drives me nuts. Tried taking it off and giving it a good clean/coat of WD40 but no improvment.

The early cars had blades with exposed hinges, and they did seize up easily. There was a replacement issued in 05(?) that had a different design with a covered hinge AFAIR.

Mine was a pain when it was new, but since the arm was changed 3.5 years ago, no issues at all.

I had a new rear wiper arm under warranty on my MY06 last year (2 years old) - it had pretty much siezed up

And another one who didn't see this post before. Exclamation
I was out here at the weekend with my WD40 freeing up my rear wiper when I noticed it wasn't touching the glass.
This is the second time I've had to do this, its a 05MY HSE by the way.

No hassle whatsoever with my MY05 with 121k on clock ...
except ... just noticed, the paint has come off one of the rivet heads.
