Rear Wiper HELP! Apollo 13 Style! |
|
Hi Guys,
This might be a bit Apollo 13'ish!
I am in the Scottish highlands on the Isle of Skye and whilst taking the tent off the Expo rack (kindly lent to me by MarkW) I managed to hit the rear wiper. The rear wiper then dropped so it was hanging fairly free but still connected ok. I thought I'd just remove it and get it sorted later so I popped the cap off that covers the nut and undid the nut. Now like the idiot that I am I thought undoing this would release the wiper and I'd be sprted. However it made the wiper even more loose but now I cannot tighten or loosen the nut, it just appears to spin freely.
Ok here's the Apollo 13 bit, I've got a couple of screw drivers, flat and pozi, a small can of WD40, a leatherman (lots of drivers bits for it), a swiss army knife, a small socked set - largest size is 14mm and a pair of long nose pliers.
Can you tell me how I can remove it? Or fix it?
Thanks in advance.
Stu
P.S. This info may not be needed as I currently have the tent tied to the car in the hope that the car will stop us all being blown away (Huge gales where we are!), but if that fails then the car and us will be no more! Ah the joys of holidaying in Scotland! D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Yeah we survived the night, but in the morning there were only 3 tents left standing, the other were small mountain tents ours is a big 6 birth family tent, so I was pretty pleased. I think tying it to the D3 helped. We are now in Glen Coe so much more sheltered, although we are now being attacked by midges! I think I prefer the storm! D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Removing the rear wiper arm requires a special tool ( General purpose puller 100-005A (LRT-99-500A) ) ....I suggest that you just tape it to the body \ window until you can get to a dealer 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I just tapped the rear wiper arm gently and pulled the arm off when I wanted to remove it to use a rear cycle carrier. No special tools needed, but if you have some small pullers then that would make it easier fir you. Bodsys Brake Bible
