Is this why the last two D5s I have seen on the road, which is half out of the total four I've seen to date, were being recovered on low loaders?

Maybe the new Defender will satisfy those who prefer the D3/D4.... and it may be electric, which would keep Ms Sturgeon happy too.....

It's just a big Discovery Sport with the same cheap plastic interior, same erratic technology, same engine oil dilution issues, possibly(?) fewer creaks and rattles, same crappy Meridian stereo system (far worse than the HK system in my old D3!) and same archaic dealer network struggling to support a very, very, average product (1.5 months waiting time to get mine looked at lately).

I'm sure D5 owners will disagree with my assessment, but I wish I had bought a D4 at the time I changed my D3. 12 months on and I now wish I had spent a bit more and bought an XC90 which is in a different league altogether compared to the DS/D5.

Steve

Yup I disagree, mainly because I don't have a meridian sound system, I've no creaks, I haven't had oil dilution problems (yet), and my dealer looks after me pretty well which makes it harder to leave. Laughing

I did look at the XC90 but the dealer just couldn't be bothered, no showroom model, no offer to try the only used one sitting and not interested in giving me an extended test drive. So D5 it was as pentland Cupar bent over backwards to keep my custom.

I seen a few D5 models but being tall chap did not find myself in any better seat then present D4 and then I went accros the road to look at XC90 Volvo.
After 5 minutes I was almost sold (not even driven it) for one simple thing way ahead of LR. Lumabr support can be adjusted up an down while mine only inflates and deflates and it is so much not comfortable I have been using cushion (so whya is it for there not used)?

2 min later I noticed Spotify on the infotainment menu which gives you ability to search for song you want of the car screen unlike very dated BT connection on D4.... do not wanna mention rest of it very quick and very intuitive to use

the model I would go for is 52K new with all I want which you can ger round 37 second had with some 10-19K on the clock

booking test drive soon might swap the cars next year..... and 25MPG in present Disco compared to 39-41 real life in XC90? hmmmm what else to fink about

I do not wanna go about middle row seats ... and everything is very well put together no creaks squeaks and all

and it has Thor hammers on the headlamps Wink

Hey J77,

It was just humour! I just find it cool when one of the best ambassadors of the D5 on the forum, starts making jokes about it too...Laughing

I've currently got a D5 3.0 HSE and really like it! I'm unsure on the thin steering wheel though.

The thin steering wheel ain't brilliant but you get used to it. I'm running around in the DS at the moment and it has better steering wheel and has a nice weighty feel.

Missing my LED headlights though, going back to halogens is like driving with candles.

Yet another thread about why not to buy the D5.

It is nothing like the D4 which is all good for me, I understand D4 owners may not like it.

But is it not time to move on? How many threads do we need pointing out the differences/"deficiencies"?
