You may also want to try the paper Dog World from any Wh Smiths and check out the adverts for smaller and cheaper companies, which may be just as good.

Try Lintran, expensive but the best you can get.

Thanks all. Lintran stuff looks lovely. Just trying to work out if they sell / make one that fits in half the boot. So I could still use one of the third row seats !"To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Lintran are probably the best quality, but for me the the Croft Fabrikennel 31" is perfect, as it fits in half of the boot without having to remove the load space cover thingy. Also allows use of one rear seat & no rattles! Should be fine for all but the very biggest Border Collies
Not suitable for dogs unused to cages & of course is not secure against theft. It folds flat, weighs next to nothing & is very well made. When on holiday or if I know I'm going to have to leave the dog in the car somewhere were he could get nicked, I use a Croft metal cage.

Had my Lintran since my D1 - 10 years ago. Bought a general size/type that fitted easily into the boot whilst leaving space for luggage too. Easily housed my GSP and JRT together. D3 swallows the box easily with loads of luggage space left.
Main thing with these boxes is that you don't want any rattles or squeaks - they would drive you mad. Latches all fit nice and tightly on the Lintran - you wouldn't know it was there (unless you look in the mirror, of course )

90BHP - one thing i would say about the fabric ones, is that i had my beagle in one, who decided he was going to play up and bounce around. He then managed to knock it over whilst he was in it and scared himself. Moral of story is make sure it's lashed down or don't take corners as quick as i did

Soft cages are fine for what they were designed for and that is for the show fraternity to be able to carry them into shows to put on benches easily. They are not IMO an option for restraining a dog in a car. They offer the dog no crash protection from glass or debris. Lintran as has already been mentioned are IMO the best as they are light and contain dirt as well as having been crash tested. They will make to measure and use a D3 as their show vehicle so would be able to make one to fit quite easily. They hold their money well, so if you change cars you can sell it on. I have a DB10 in my car and it leave space down the side and between the cage and rear seats for a lot of gear as well as the ability to put a shopping bag or two between the tailgate. They aren't cheap, but then the best never is!DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
