Recommendations for a West Midland Dealer - Newbie D3 Owner |
|
My first post.
I have just got my Disco 3 its a April 2005 s 2.7tdv6 Auto and I love it, I had a 110 XS Defender before and it is pure luxury. I bought it private so no real ties to any dealership
I have been reading loads of threads on Enhancements and think my car needs a few of them,
The parking break sticks on in the morning you have to reverse to get it to disengage.
The Headlamps have condensation in them.
The rear PDC some times doesnt cut in until the last second nearly crunched the car in the first day.
The fuel consumption is bad I mean really bad 20MPG taking it easy I used to get 29 MPG out of the Defender.
I think I have an issue with the air suspension looking at the threads it definitly feels like it is floating about.
The heater blows hot and then starts blowing cold even when on 26 degrees.
My experience of the dealer I had been using in Stourbridge was shocking with my Defender but I had to pursue with them as they had started the work before the waranty had finished and it took the 6 months to fix some minor problems so I will not be using them again. They even had the car once for 5 weeks in one go, there is no way I would give up the D3 for a Focus for 5 weeks or would trust them with it. Unless you can tell me any different.
Does anybody have experience of good dealers in the Midlands I will even take them the thread to show them they are doing something well. I think my car may be in need of the enhancement program.
I look forward to your responses - and can I say what a fantastic place for D3 information

Whilst I have no specific recommendation, the independant dealers seem to get better feedback from the forum. The big franchises whilst some are good, some are bad.
In your area, Shukers, and JV Like get regular praise, although may a bit of a jaunt for you, may be worth it. Sounds like you do need enhancing.

Shukers are not too far away in Ludlow.
I've used them for years and they are very good.
There is a dealer in Droitwich but not had that many dealings with them.

Droitwich is my local. Bit 'gucci', but they haven't let me down yet. ..............Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

Over the years (with 6 different model Discoveries) I've used most of the midlands dealers in trying to find a good one:
3 Counties - Stourbrige
guy salmon - Coventry
Shukers - Shrewsbury
Stratstone - Stratford
Bushbury - Wolverhampton
and I cant say I'd recommend any of them. OK taking your money, useless when trying to resolve issues.
I had the D3 from Bushbury Wolverhampton (now part of reg vardy), and they've been OK, but not as good as I would have liked.
I had the first service done at Hereford LR, and must say they did seem much more customer focused.
my sixpeno'worth anyway.

Older - D3 TDV6 XS Auto - Lugano Teal with Almond Leather, 20" Stormers, Shiny Tailpipes, DVD/TV - and obligatory D3 sticker

Shukers in Ludlow seem to be better than Shrewsbury from what I hear from the locals round here.

It looks like I am going to try Droitwich, I spoke to the service desk explained all the issues, he was not concerned and said we had better keep the car a couple of days to be on the safe side.
They are only a few miles from me which is a bonus, I would happly drive 50 miles for good honest service though
I also mentioned getting the enhanced stuff done and he knew exactly what I was talking about and said they do this as a matter of course. The fact I am having to wait until 18th December sugests they are busy I hope that its because they have good customer service.
I will keep you posted 15 3.0 RRS HSE - Silver

If you asked them for a loan car, than thats prob the delay factor. If you just drop it off, you might get a better date.. ..............Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

Lee, I did need a car hence the delay probably, What do they normally give out anything good?
I notice you are in Worcester do you get to do any local green lanes if so I would be interested to hook up. There is a great couple of fords just off J7 that I went to a couple of times in the Defender they were very deep and good fun. I am dying to get the new car muddy 15 3.0 RRS HSE - Silver
