Relay sort of ticking noise from under seat

Anybody had this, got in car last night and as soon as I put the key in the ignition a clicking started under the drivers seat, a regular click that sounds like a relay clicking on and off. on investigation the memory seat function wouldnt work or the mirrors but the seat would move by pressing the appropriate button but instead of a continuous smooth movement it jerkily Shocked moved in time with the clicking noise. Drove home thinking it might sort itself out but it didnt until I stopped locked the car up and left it for a few minutes and on restart it was ok Rolling Eyes Mirrors and seat all working ok and again ok with this mornings start up Question

Might well be the pump for your fuel burning heater which is on the chassis rail under the car... Other symptoms could be coincidence?

The memory module for the seats and mirrors is on the underside of the drivers seat. Could be that?

Did anyone find the cause of this? I have exactly the same, definitely the seat mechanism as moving the seat in any direction is very jerky in synch with the relay clicking. Didn't stop even after the car had gone to sleep so I have pulled out fuse 46 in the glove box fuse board and this stopped the clicking, any proper cures?

If its under the passenger seat then it's your sat nav laser reading the disc. Very faint tick. Does my head in. One of those sound that only bug you once u have heard it and know what it is

Yes sounds like it. I sorted mine out by unplugging the module for a few days, never had it come back again.
I had the problem a few times before unplugging the module and noted the issue started in wet weather, so maybe damp in the car ie wet carpets Thumbs Up

I have the same issue on my 2009 HSE. Loud clicking under drivers seat and seat movements only work in time with clicking. Completely different and much louder than the Sat nav reader clicking. Wouldn't stop no matter what so pulled large white plug off the ecu? under seat to stop it. Will try it later and see if it returns... Any ideas anyone?

Is something jamming the seat from moving? - if you have just unlocked the doors the seat may be trying reposition itself through memory but is tripping out on overloa or the motor drive sprocket is jumping.

I just tried plugging it back in and it seems fine, but for how long????
Its not the motor trying to move, its just a relay type click, only double clicks :0
Weird....

Same as Stumpy....just unplug seat module for a couple of minutes and replug back in. Mine has played up twice over a four period.
As I do store a mountain of stuff under the drivers seat, I thought it may have jammed something and overloaded the electric motor.
Easy fix.

Cheers Peter

Surprised it's not canbus connected to the brake light switch, and faults the car by dropping down on it's bump stops, and then into limp mode.
Rolling with laughter
