Remapping an MY07......
Guys, bought myself an my07 Disco SE, stornaway/alpaca leather. Love it to bits BUT having read on here that these can be remapped successfully I obviously want more. Reading on other threads however the 07 cars do seem to have bit more poke low down and having driven it I think this is true. So my question is this, has anyone remapped their 07 disco and noticed an improvement or will I feel a little improvement but not as much as an earlier car?

Not driven a chipped 07, but I've heard 1st hand that there is less difference between standard and chipped 07MY. I think the people that could tell you are presently in sunnier climes Disco 5 HSE Lux

I had my 2007 MY HSE remapped and to be honest,I couldnt tell any difference--was really disappointed.
Also 2 weeks afterhaving it chipped, we went to france and the ecu gave up the ghost.
suffice to say we have left the car standard since the ecu was replaced .
I spoke with the companywho chipped the car and they said the ecu failure was nothing to do with the rechip--but Im not so sure. I also noted more black smoke after the car was chipped, and people following us used to coment on it.

I don't think having the car chipped can do damage to the ECU as too many have been chipped without any problem and maybe the black smoke was a part of your ECU problem and not the remap
I cant comment on whether having your 07my car chipped will help or not I have not had mine done and I don't seem to need it as the car is fine as it is for me.

I have heard other people mention that they get more smoke after a re-map, but I think it largely depends on the remap you have had and who does it. There are lot of Land Rover specialists, who probably have specific knowledge of the TDV6.
I am tempted myself, but only because I would like better fuel consumption, performace wise I think the engine is already very good.

Countrywide, I was sceptcal re a remap but am pleased as punch. I was after improving mpg 1st, performance increase 2nd. I do a fair amount of travelling up the A9 to the Highlands and now overtaking is so much easier and safer. Also if I don't use the extra power I'm looking at about 10% increase in mpg. OK so there is a little smoke if I really boot it but it feels like a rocket and they smoke too!!! 8) 8)

I own an 06MY and it's chipped. I have a loaner 07MY at the moment and I think the performance of this seems near to the 06MY chipped. I am going to try some tests tomorrow with it
Will post comparison here

Hi
Well I got a 08 model. It seems fast BUT I think I got the dreaded slow pick up at roundabouts etc. Only done about 800 miles, so it is wait and see for me. Other reason for me to chip is MPG, of which I only get 20.5 just now.
I am sereously thinking of getting it chiped. I have a dealer who does the Rica engineering very close by. Only reason for the Rica chip is that the guy is only 5 miles away.
Anyone ever herd of this chip.
Thanks Rab.

Yes, they,re really a Volvo tuner....not sure how good they are at Land Rover. Do they offer a money back scheme if you're not happy?

Sorry for the thread ressurection, but and news or new views on this topic?
I have just got a July 08 Discovery to replace my Volvo XC90, I'm loving it but it's no ball of fire.
I had the Volvo chipped with a Rica PPC where you can update the software yourself though the ODBII posrt, or revert it to standard at your leisure, and it was superb, very noticable improvement.
Rica are best known for Volvo as they do a lot of the OEM calibration for Volvo, but given Volvo and Land Rover were all part of PAG and shared parts and used the same networking Volcano, I think Rica should know their stuff.
So has anyone any expierance of the Rica upgrade on the TDV6?
