Removable tow bar stuck

Anyone have any tips on how to remove a stuck on tow bar which should be quick release. I can not get the key in and wondered if any one else has had the same problem.

a good dose of WD40 into the lock.

if that fails, you can buy a new lock for £10c

I must add I can't get the key into the lock Sad

If I bought a new lock is it easy or even possible to remove and fit the new lock if I can't get the tow back off?

Prise the dust cover back and keep dosing with WD40 it will give eventually. I gently tapped with small hammer too. It took a few days. It now lives off the car except when in use and always with a squirt when I take it off

Took me 3 days to remove from D3 when I sold it on had been in place for about 3 years - lots of WD40 and wiggling around, eventually key went in and after more WD and more wiggling it moved
Loke previous posts, now lives off the car and is lubed after each use

As Adam said...
Took days and lots of WD40. Think a hammer and block of wood was involved at one point. I do remember thinking that I was stuffed and i would never see it out again but it came.
Like Adam, from that point off it was off the car unless needed...

Had the same problem talked to my local independent land rover people not surprised the things get nicked.

lesson never leave on the car for 4 years spent 4 hours over the weekend on it with WD40 & Plus-gas after talking to them took less than 60 seconds to remove it

No wonder they get nicked a 5 year old could get it off

now it will only be fitted to my new Disco 4 when need to use it then into the boot it will go

even money if you see on on ebay its a stolen one

New lock and key 12 quid !!!
