Erratic revs and harsh gear change |
|
So it went in for it's 6 year service last week and after 4 new tyres, diff seal and new fuel pipe it's come back and it's not behaving. (79k)
Only when cold about 5 mins into a journey the revs go all erratic like it's running away with you. Had a couple if harsh gear changes also.
Here's a little video of it playing up. Car was in Park and I wasn't touching the throttle.

Any ideas?

Strange problems--
Could be a throttle body cleaning is needed. It could also be a sensor gone bad. You may have to get the codes read.
After that it is hard to say, almost seems like an April fools joke otherwise.

No joke!
It's at the dealers to see if they can find it.

Just paid 361 here in Lancashire for same side at main dealers!
I would shop around.
Price you have been quoted seems high for 1 side!

Good point!
If it is 6 years old it should be early enough for blanking. Non euro 4.
Much cheaper option

It's being done.
It was at the garage, I need it back and working for Easter. They won't blank them (I asked)
I don't have the time, more hassle than it's worth.

Well I really hope it cures your problem. Never heared of these symptoms caused by bad EGR's.
Ask for a warranty and don't pay for the EGR if your issues aren't solved. CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

I dont think the replacement EGR valve will cure your problem (it may still be faulty) I would be looking at the oil temperature sensor located on the side of the sump.
We had one showing the exact symptoms you have, quite dangerous to drive when parking as it suddenly took off
Try to get your garage to look at the dynamic values for the oil temp sensor when the fault is occuring they may find a reading of -44 degrees c
good luck

Hate to say I told you so....
Judging your reaction I assume you paid for the EGR's??? If so, why did you do that?? CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS
