Remove the A-Bar brush protector for a 2007 Disco 3

Sorry if I am starting a topic that has already been addressed but I could not find a thread describing this issue.

Our recently purchased 2007 Disco3 has a black polyurethane brush protection bar mounted over the front grille and bumper. My wife and I don't like the look of the A-bar and prefer the standard grille and bumper. Has anyone removed the A-bar permanently? Wondering if the appearance would be just like the stock Disco3 that came from the factory without an A-bar. It does not have the hole plugs that cover the lower mounting bolts that I've seen on the aftermarket A-Bar. In otherwords, there is no access to the mounting bolts from the front. Any advice about removing the brush guard is greatly appreciated.

Yes you can remove it and it will just be stock in appearance. However you’ll probably be left with some holes were the mounting fixings have been. When I fitted mine the brackets holding it one were mounted so that the fixing holes where out of sight. I seem to remember there was two versions with different mounting brackets.

Unfortunately there will be holes left where it comes off, however you may be able to swap the whole lot with someone for their bumper and a decent amount of cash

Thanks for the reply, Andy. Did yours have 4 mounting bolts in the lower front that were covered with plastic caps? Mine has no visible bolt covers which makes me think that the lower attachment bolts must be accessed from behind the bumper.

Hi , there was a post about fitting one I think. I'll try and find it later for you. As said above what you get for the bar will probably pay for a replacement bumper anyway. I've seen listed for between £300-500 if in good condition.

Hi,

At the bottom of this post there is a link to download a PDF of the fitting instructions, hopefully that will help you with removing it.

Its a bit of a long shot, but I dont suppose you have the grills / guards for the spotlights do you? Mine came with them and I have managed to lose one!

Sorry, but my lamps have no grilles. The rest of the assembly is promised to a friend. Thanks for the link to the installation .pdf files. The second of the two files is the type that I have and the diagram gave me a much better idea of how the assembly is attached and how it can be removed.

Mine was a secondhand one and only had fixing brackets at the top and bottom so no real visible holes when removed. I haven’t got the car now so can’t take any photos for you.

Andy, Thanks for the reply

The style you had is certainly what I have too. Just received the correct installation diagram from pwheeldon on this forum. Planning to start the removal today if the garage isn't too cold
