removing the 12 volt/cigarette lighter panel
Can anyone tell me how to pull out the 12 volt/cigarette lighter panel under the temperature controls.
I managed to remove every thing else in the centre console except this panel. When I try to pull it out It appears to get stuck on the underside of the panel?
I am trying to put in a wire, to tap into the 12v supplyTrust me, what could go wrong?

Mine pulled straight out, just the top section comes out, could be stiff the first time.
If you are unsure remove the centre console; pull the gear lever up when in park, remove screw below epb lever and pull up. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I broke the middle clip in order to remove mine as it was stuck fast. It just wouldn't come off no matter how hard I tried. Clips did a good job (unfortunately). The problem I found after trying to reinstate it without the centre clip was that the ashtray and cig lighter flaps would not stay closed as it required that tiny amount of tension in the centre of the panel in order for the flpas to stay closed. I took the brocken panel to LR who replaced under warranty as i told them that the flaps wouldn't close so I tried to fix it myself ... (no mention of AUX plug )
You can get to the 12v supply by removing the heater panel above it, so don't really have to remove it unless you want to install a ipod aux switch similar to what I did (see below). I spliced & soldered into the 12v supply for switched power to my parrot and all is OK..

I'm in the middle of this now, when you say you spliced & soldered into the 12V supply for the switched power, which cables are they? Brian

If you want acess to this area or to pull out the aux. sockets, then remove the centre console. It's very easy and quick to do. Once thats removed, the aux. sockets will pop out no problem. If you don't, then the clips will ping, hands will get grazed and cut and the aux. sockets won't budge!
