Removing bumper, fitting led bar light.
Hi, I'm after putting a 22" led bar just above the number plate. I have been told I need to take the bumper off to fit this there. If this is true, can some one point me in the right direction in taking this off. It has parking Spencers on aswell. 05 D3
When I fit my led bar, if I wire one to the earth and one to the main beams would that work? And anyone put led bars in before or better on a switch?
Have my LED's (roof mounted) on a switch fitted into courtesy light trim but hooked into my aux battery.
If you struggle I'd suggest giving Wiggs a PM, he's not far from you.Paul.

Unless you fit a switch to override the light bar from coming on with main beam I suspect that you might have trouble getting the car through its MOT as I doubt that it is 'E' marked. If you fit an override switch you can claim it is for off road use only.

^ If I recall correctly "Auxiliary Lamps" aren't a testable item for an MOT so shouldn't be a problem.

That is my point, I think it will only class as an auxiliary lamp if there is an override switch, if it is permanently wired into the main beam it will be part of the road lights and testable. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

I think an Auxiliary Lamp is an Auxiliary lamp no matter how it is wired as far as the MOT is concerned.

Pain in the :censored: again!!
Sorry!
Can I just ask,
The two wires coming from my led light. Do I put one to the earth and then split the other, the one that I split does that go to a switch and the other part to the main beam?
Cheers.

I wouldn't just wire it in. Not good practice to load more current onto the existing circuit.

As a recently retired MOT tester I can confidently state that if a non 'e' marked driving light illuminates when I select high beam I, or any of my colleagues that are doing their job properly, would immediately fail the car.
