Replace xenon d3s bulb with led
Looking for some new bulbs and stumbled across some LED replacement bulbs for the D3S bulb. Seems to bypass the old ballast. Has anyone tried these before? I'm going to order some normal bulbs anyway, but these have me wondering what they would look like and if would throw any faults

There may be some reflector issues with certain LED bulbs, if not legal ones too! You could have a look at Osram Nightbreaker H7's as a very good upgrade to the standard 55/60 halogen.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
fairly sure the Disco3 uses D2S xenons ... Disco4 has D3S.
may not affect choice of LED alternatives ... but it may.

I have fitted some similar in the fogs along with a relay for them to operate on full beam only, I have renamed them driving lamps and can actually see where I’m going at night now It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Fog! - What is this fog you speak of? I haven’t used any fog lights for over 20 years, the day of “pea soup” fog has gone, I prefer to be able to see where I’m going 7 nights a week to once in a blue moon It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

My experience with LED bulbs is that they tend to be bright but not well focused. They might give off a bright light but dazzle others.

Goes without saying but the LEDs won’t be road legal unless the whole unit is ECE approved. It’s similar to a situation when replacing halogen lights with LEDs - if the unit wasn’t designed for the new lamp it’s not allowed.
Is UK is just lax with regs? Here you’re in deep with the vehicle if you get caught.
The problem ( or is that actually our advantage ? ) is that UK MoT testers are not allowed to dismantle things to check what's inside. So unless your LED kit is visible, it's likely to pass if the beam pattern is ok..
