All my glow plugs are not working, when my car starts, after 20 seconds its running smooth even at idle, dead glow plugs have no effect on how the car runs after its started.

This is timing sequence after start.

-30 deg C = 25 seconds
-20 deg C = 25 seconds
-10 deg C= 22 seconds
0 deg C = 19 seconds
+10 deg C= 12 seconds
+20 deg C = 8 seconds
+40 deg C = 4 seconds
+60 deg C = 2 seconds

In addition, the glow plugs are commanded on for the start and immediately afterwards for the timings stated below:

-30 deg C = 60 seconds
-20 deg C = 60 seconds
-10 deg C = 40seconds
0 deg C = 20 seconds
+10 deg C = 10 seconds
+20 deg C = 5 seconds
+40 deg C = 2 seconds
+60 deg C = 0 seconds

Flack Thumbs Up

But with 4 working plugs, helping the fuel atomise, and 2 stone cold cylinders not burning properly, it will exacerbate any injector issues...

I would do with injectors.
Has anyone mentioned the oil sensor on the sump?

If you left 2 broken ones, how is the cylinder sealed? Not convinced your have compression on all 6 cylinders!

Hi guys,

Well I did the EGR blanking and it made zero difference. I guess the next step is check the injectors as suggested. Any idea where I can download this software or do I need to go to a specialist?

For what it's worth Borrowash diesel in Derby did the work, never going there again, car is worse since they relieved me of several hundred pounds.... Would love to find a garage I trust who actually gives a monkeys!

Thanks again

Simon

Me again....

Glow plug fuse is blown, replace it and it just blows again instantly, is this a known problem?

Thank you

Simon

There are 2 fuses
1 for each side.
Disconnect 3 pin plug on top of engine.
Measure resistance of the green wires to gp’s.
See if one is a dead short
