Replaced rear brake sensor and now in a world of hurt
Evening folks
Well .... Im new to D3 ownership after 4 years in a D2.
For the last few days i have had the brake sensor.fault. After an inspection the little plastic do da had snapped. So bought a new one and set about replacing it.
So Jacked up rear offside wheel.....
Wheel off....
Disconnect old cable...
Reconnected new cable connected...
Checked the fault light had gone ... But it and the AbS light was on.
I quickly clean and washed all the suspension area before putting the wheel back on as it was filthy so just wanted to get an idea of the condition under the dirt.
Wheel back on ......
Checked the dash and suspension off, parking brake fault.... Etc
So this is what the dash looks like...i have to dip the clutch to release the parking brake.
The suspension selector is fixed in the high setting then it lowers as i drive it then all the light go off....
I cant believe changing a flippin cable has done this....
Dont have a diagnostic tool to hand...
i would be most grateful if anyone could give me a steer....2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 2.7 S

There is a speed sensor fitted to the rear of the hub and the cable is routed very much the same as the brake sensor, check you haven't upset the plug of cabling for the sensor
I've had those lights before and it was a faulty speed sensor

If memory serves me right, the abs plug is the one you can see from the wheel arch, the brake pad sensor is behind the chassis rail. As said before they follow a similar path. The plugs look the same but not sure if you could fit them the wrong way round.

So here is the culprit.......
It looks like the previous owner has done some kinda bodge and the work that i have do to replace the brake wear sensor has made it come loose....
I have hard wired the wires together and it clears the fault...
So the question is do I do a temporary fix block it and then get a proper job done. I am just a bit worried it might come apart again... Whilst driving....
Thoughts appreciated....

Can’t quite make out from your picture but if the vehicle side of the wiring loom is ok I would buy a new sensor. If the whole lot is damaged I would join and heat shrink the wires as a perinant repair and deal with it in the future if the sensor ever needs replacing.

Hi Pete
Yes both the end of the abs sensor and the connect off the loom are gone....
i think im going to connect the 2 wires from the Abs sensor to the loom side wires. I have a new sensor but nowt to plug it into...ffs
Think ill get onto a salvage yard and get a connector with a long tail then join them....2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 2.7 S

Yeas some hand fisted do da... A fairly easy fix but im going to get it put back to original...
Still shocks me how a simple fix totally stops such a beast.... My d2 had coils all round... Took away all the compressor hassle...etc..
But having this out in the snow .... Its awesome...
Move along nothing to see here!!!!
Thanks fer all the steers chaps
