Replacing the Air suspension??

Merry Christmas everybody!

Anyway my Disco 3, TDV6 have been stationery now for 12 days thanks to a Bonnet and battery issue. Its been cold, sometimes minus 10!
Looking at it now I can see the car front is slowly sinking its the Air-suspension of course! I have had an Orange light warning for a few months but the car have driven perfectly! the car apart from that is in excellent condition no rust, engine and gearbox perfect but I dont want to go through all the troubles with this Air-suspension.

So my question is: is it a big job converting to Coils and is it a costly job?

Anybody? thanks!

It's been done by plenty of people, this is the kit you need. They also do a 2" lift version too. It comes with a module to plug in so that you don't lose all the terrain response systems.

I've not done it, but I believe everything you need will be in the kit.

The air suspension system is brilliant though, is it not worth fixing that instead?

Yes I know! but I really recon the air-suspension problem is like a never ending story, one problem just replace another!
A friend of mine took his D3 to the LR garage here, replaced everything, new Air-suspension the lot! a year and a half later it started to play up yet again!

I dont know? I'm in two minds really what to do!

My 2005 D3 has more than 250k miles now, no real issues with the air suspension in that time period though it did have all four struts replaced at about 220k miles as it was beginning to lose air overnight and also wallow a lot (more than it should!) in the corners...

Certainly in my experience so far the air suspension is an amazing feature of the car and gives a fantastic ride and not worth switching to coils... definitely worth a bit of expense to maintain, IMHO...

I know! it gives a superb ride ( when it works) and I dont want coils but at the same time I dont want to pay BIG bucks to just run into constant trouble. The car is in pristine condition or else I wouldnt bother!

However I'm going to check it out, prices, etc to fit new parts on the existing Air-suspension, maybe I go for that I dont know yet!

Don't forget to fill out your vehicle profile, just in case any questions you have are year/model specific.

I've fixed a fair few issues with the D3 air suspension over my c.15yrs of owning various models, but I'd never consider losing the flexibility/benefit of air over coils.

i changed my wifes hse d3 to coils best thing i have done to it.it started with a sudden rapid air loss and straight down onto the bump stops. the options were try and find the fault then try and fix it or change to coils.every thing you need comes in the kit but also buy replacement bolts for the lower mounts. the top bolts are fun to get at due to space but can be done. the only down side is it rides a bit harder but you soon get used to it.

Just keep driving as it is! Too much work to convert to coil.

Get these on order if cheap.

Thanks for that info!! I really dont mind a slightly harder ride! rather that then suddenly get stuck somewhere far away, towing, limp mode and allthe rest of the hassle!
