Replacing volume / AC knobs

I tried searching on ebay but apart some Chinese knobs that go on top I can not find the OEM knobs for sale. The rubber coating is not nice anymore and I just tried to remove one, successfully, so now I have to find the OEM replacements. Anybody has replaced them before?

If rubber coating is just tacky to the touch rather than mechanically knackered, gentle rub with smokers tooth powder or bicarbonate of soda will do the trick.

Mine weren’t as bad as that but I just wiped them down with washing up liquid and a load of dirt/human grease came off leaving the rubber nice and fresh. The knobs aren’t available as a spare part so you would need a whole unit.

FWIW, I’ve got the powerful U.K. metallic volume knobs on the D3 and have really liked them. Had them for about 2 1/2 years.

Are you sure? They do a stick on cover kit but you still need your knobs for those.

I’d try cleaning them first, mine were looking bad but the dirt and grease washed off.

Right. So they come with a rubberised soft-touch coating over a plastic knob. The rubberised coating tends to rot, especially if you use and cleaners on the knobs. You can easily rub it off using a glue/goo remover. Remove them to clean and replace.
