Restricted performance

Whist traveling on the motorway today I got the red triangle lit up on the dash and the message restricted performance.

When home I switched off and left the car to reset and the message and light had cleared when I restarted it up.

As it was late, it was the AA patrol who came out for Landrover Assistance who checked things over and said there was no fault message stored so had no idea what the problem was.

The car was serviced 1000 miles ago and had new EGR valves fitted by the dealer under warranty (30,000 mile) as there was a small amount of hunting on tick over (think thats still there and I may be too particular)

Any ideas why no error message in store and what the problems may be. Question

AA patrol man's kit does not read the ecu on these beasts, big yellow taxi patrol man came out to me last week whilst sat outside inde LR, we knew there were codes, plugged in and nothing logged Shocked

One assumes you're going to have LA out to see the car coz thru LR yer get a courtsey car then within 3 days the dealer have to give yer one from memory Laughing

As for what fault codes......... who knows but if yer could give me the winning numbers for next weeks euromillions I would be very grateful Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Thanks for that - I have to give the car another run in the morning and will see if the fault shows again. Either way I will make another call to LA and they can come to work to do a check for the fault. Just thought Mr AA man (who came in a silver assitance van) may have retrieved the code tonight and would then be in the system ready for the LA loan car for first thing in the morning.

I knew AA were coming as it was too late for LA but when he arrived I still asked if he was LA or AA and he said "I can be who you like as I have been on a course" Shocked

Just wished I knew before that you only need to go on a course to be able to fix a Disco4 Surprised

As for the lottery numbers they also, unfortunatly did not show but I can let you have the ones you ask for, week after next Laughing

Yes but he also said he may be Aston Martin later if he gets a call for one. Rolling Eyes

Note your point but it was the LA appointed tech who said its ok to drive, and he wrote that on the call out sheet.

Will update the topic tomorrow once I know some more.

Mine did it once and then reset. Second time didn't reset. could you hear a hissing when idling? second turbo stuck open, known fault, easy to unstick to get you home but don't accelerate hard or over 2500 rpm. Prevents secondary being used. LRA man showed me how unstick , let me know if you need.

Same fault developed this moring while going up hill the worse thing was I was passing a BMW at the time which must have thought I had changed my mind when I fell back behind him. Big Cry

Fault cleared again once car restarted.

Now waiting for Landrover Assistance to come, scheduled for between 10am/11am.

Been assured its a Landrover technician this time and not AA/Audi/VW/Aston Martin or what ever specialist the last one thought he was.

The car has run so well, and still no funny noise or loss of power after restarting. Confused

Landrover technician arrived and plugged his box in and read both todays fault AND the one from the start of the month which the AA man said hadn't been stored - so it shows it was a waste of time calling him out at the time Mad

One code is showing "turbocharger turbine inlet valve closed" and the other is showing "turbocharger turbine valve control circuit open"

After he had done the checks a low battery fault was also showing although a battery check showed the 11 month old battery was ok and he has suggested a check of the charging.

Car now at dealers and Enterprise Car Hire have given me a Jaguar XF to play with over the weekend Thumbs Up
