Restricted Performance - No codes!
So yesterday headed out onto dual carriageway for about half an hour, came home and reversed the disco up to the horse trailer as doing some work on trailer electrics and wanted to test all was ok engine had been turned off.
About 1 hour later started the engine to move the D4 and red triangle and restricted performance came up. Not even put it into drive at that point. Turned it off and then back on and back to normal. Then later taking it out again it came on again as soon as it started but again had not even put it into drive. Drove it a couple of miles down the road and performance was restricted. Stoped it to pop into a shop and came out and started it up and NO restricted performance.
Checked with IID and no faults recorded and nothing in pending faults. Check done with engine off.
Suspect it may be connected with something the engine does on starting that is perhaps becoming stuck on fisrst start, then clearing on second start? Its only used at weekends if this helps
Any thoughts greatly apreciatedIID Tool

Check codes with IID when the fault "is active" you should then be able to see where the issue is yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Thanks both, will give the batterie a go with the ctek over night, although after a good run down the dual carriageway I would have thought it would have been holding enough charge for it not to be the issue and also only a year old, but never say never. IID on board in case of a reoccurrence.
Was hoping would be a simple case of something like turbo actuator sticking on the second turbo might have brought the message up as it only happened whilst parked.IID Tool

My suspicion is this will be the early sign of a cracking inlet manifold. I’ve had both sides fail on my D4 and it starts as an intermittent and random Restricted Performance.
Whilst Land Rover utilise a smoke test method, you can find it yourself with the aid of an assistant. Lift the top cover off the engine to give you visibility of the inlet manifolds then, with Drive selected, have an assistant rev the engine hard whilst their foot is firmly applied to the brake pedal. Obviously stand to the side of the vehicle, not in front of it! This will load the engine up and will expose any air leaks.
Should you find one then be aware it is 7-8 hours to replace each of them in isolation.D4 2012 Orkney Grey SDV6 GS 8 Speed - Awesome

Hi DrewLR4 did you resolve your problem? Was it inlet manifolds? I have a similar issue, can’t see any sign of a manifold leak but haven't tried the load test yet recommended by J12.D4 GS 12MY

Enable ALL codes in advanced mode.
Also, in the unconfirmed inputs you can check a long list of startup parameters. From gear shift to brake switch..
Good luckFixing LR problems very far from Solihull.
That's why my newest car is a 1999 Disco 2 V8 with 285.000 miles
The problem is the missing documentation, not the LR

To date it has not happened again.
My other thought was I had just brimmed the fuel tank and had only driven it for about 20 mins on the dual carriageway then parked it up in full sun and had wondered if it was heat and a very full fuel tank that triggered something.IID Tool
