I believe PMA on the end of the part number means in PRIMER, hence why you had to spray them
The sensor is the same for all 8 on the car.
I thought the front corners on D3 may have the right angled connectors (straight on others usually )
BUT THE SENSOR PART IS THE SAME
just a case of fitment and colour for different part number

but when freaked out the inner ones in particular were flickering between around 0.4 ish and 2.5m
Are you also saying the ones you sprayed are the ones giving a problem.
Do you think that is a coincidence ?
Not that I would know how you correctly spray one.
p.s In fairness, lr-trade-parts-uk seam to sell mostly primered ones, which is a bit of a pain.

Thanks Pete,
I didn't paint any of the sensors, I only painted the inner bezels as they were only primed (the outers were already black). Both the bezels and the sensors carry the same code on the end depending on position but regardless of colour or paint state i.e. outers = PMA and inners = LML. All my sensors are black but were marked as YDB500311LML for the inners and YDB500311PMA for the outers. They are however all right angled so they might well be the same sensors.
So I can't have damaged the sensors but I suppose there is a very small chance the paint on the bezels is boucing something back? I can't imagine that to be the case though as the sensors sit pretty flush with the bezel. I'll take another look tomorrow in daylight to see if that could be the case.
What I did get a chance to do tonight was put the car in reverse with the engine switched off and parking brake off. Nipped around all 8 sensors, front & rear, and all were clicking so seems they are all working. Also did the live values again and just as before, the front inners flicker between full range (2.5m) and 0.x. Doesn't always happen straight away but it does happen every time.
Also went for a spin and as expected the front sensors stopped sounding after I get over about 10mph and come back on when I drop under 10mph.
Basically everything seems to be working as expected with the exception of these two inners going a bit nuts.

All looks fine, nothing out of the ordinary on the bezels. So as mentioned, all sensors are clicking and activating when they should, the loom is brand new also. All sensors show up on IID too.
I'll order a couple of replacements for the inners anyway as suggested just in case they are still somehow faulty regardless of the clicking. But what else could cause this? The socket under the headlight? The loom through to the parking aid module? The parking aid module itself?
Should I test these items with a MM somehow? If so, any pointers on what/how to test would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi mate
Just looked on the iid menu under live values and noticed a section called “ front parking aid “
Was just wondering on the off chance if you’ve looked and what this section tells u
Also wondering if u had a hertz setting on ur multimeter if there’s any possibility of comparing ur sensors through using this setting , alas never used that before on mine or if it’s any good for this type of test , as in the frequency is the same for all x 8 ???
Alas the guys here will have more knowledge ref the HZ setting
Same with the incoming voltage / earths on each wire that there all the same , should be 100% seeing there new sensors and loom

Yeah, looked at those. That is how I know both the inners start flicjering between 2.5 and 0 x.
Haven't done any MM testing yet. Will do when I take the bumper off again at the weekend though.
A few pointers of what to check would be great.

Hi mate
Ah perfect , that’s that then
Indeed strange why just those 2 x inner ones are flickering , considering the loom and all the sensors are new
Think personally I would do the following when the bumper is removed
MM on ohms and test each wire on the loom to ensure 100% sound
Still on ohms , testing the earth wires at the connectors , ie maybe dirty and not allowing a sound earth connection
Then there’s the PDC Ecu behind the panel, are those connections there sound , properly clipped into the module
Could also test the wires from the module to the connector behind the headlight , just link 2 x wires one end and test the other
As the loom runs in the floor channel could there be any possibility of water ingress
When u get the new ones , fingers crossed it will sort all the issues out
Alas know that’s not much help to u

I had a rear one that was (very intermittent) like your issue.
When the fault occurred, I plugged the IID in, saw what you are seeing.
Ordered and replace sensor, and fault went

Thanks Pete,
I ordered a couple of new ones from a different supplier and they should be with me before the weekend. Fingers crossed that will sort the issue. Suppose the new ones I have in could be from a bad batch? Hopefully all will become clear at the weekend when I get the bumper off again.

I had same issue with cheap non genuine sensors. Ended up buying genuine (but cheap on eBay). Use the iiD graphs to really see what is going on as the screen you showed with the values is too slow to tell the whole picture. Here is my thread with lots more info..... http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/front-parkin...=Front+pdc2005 Discovery 3 HSE

A delayed update on this. Ordered replacements from a "Fast Shipping" shop on fleabay but ended up taking a week and a half! Anyways, had a cheeky hour and a half to whip the front bumper off (so much quicker when you know how) and I sat it on a small chair in front of the car still connected. Bear in mind I already know all four sensors where clicking but the idea was to swap them out for the new ones just in case.
However, when I did a quick test before any swapping, everything worked properly!!! Couldn't believe it. I unplugged the loom and sprayed some contact cleaner in there for good measure anyway. So as I didn't have long I started to put everything back on and kept testing several times as I went along. Got the whole front end back together, tested again and still fine. Promising I thought. Then I went for a spin......
Of course the constant beep returned but it didn't seem to start until I did a U-turn and faced it uphill. As mentioned the loom is brand new as are all the front sensors and clearly they work properly sometimes. So where is this issue originating?
I guess that as it only happens when I'm in motion and seemingly uphill it must be a bad connection somewhere. I suppose it could still be the sensors but both the fronts at the same time? Thinking it must be somewhere else.
Next step, I'm going to take the rear panel off to check the module's connections. Failing that I'm going to have to give myself a crash course in multi-meter and somehow check all wires from module through to the plug under the headlight, and if I have to, take the bumper of again and do the same.
