Reverse Door Mirror Dipping

Iam getting to grips with the toys and goodies on our car but the one thing that is causing me a problem is the setting of the Dipping door mirrors when reversing.
Im following the instructions in the book and when set, the info panel tells me that the settings are stored, however, when i next set reverse, they forget my preset position and fall to the floor.

Is this a common glitch or is it just me (again) ?

If the seat / mirror positions have been memorised then they should return when the relevant memory button is pressed and held briefly. They should dip on reversing and return to normal when going forward. If you switch off the engine when you have just been in reverse, the car may not have time to return from the 'dipped' position. A remedy is a) either to switch to forward (first or drive) and wait briefly until the mirrors return to normal, before switching off or b) on re-starting, press and briefly hold the relevant memory button to return to the pre-remembered setting.

Our problem seems to be that they dont hold their set position when 'dipping'.

The seats etc have all been set up and store their positions but when we follow the manual instructions and set the mirrors whilst in reverse with the engine off, the instruction panel says that their new position is stored but as soon as we try it, they dip to the floor again.

The car is going to the dealer this morning to get its headlight issue sorted and i will ask them if there is a problem or if its just me.

hmm, not sure if I understand the problem. I set my mirrors without worrying about engine off etc and the positions were stored when I set the seat memory. Maybe I've missed something?

The dealer is quite right, mine was sorted with the software upgrade. If your car is in for work anyway then the dealer should do this at the same time - no worries!

Perhaps I too have missed something. I assumed that when reverse was selected, the mirrors dipped fully down and one was not able to select a different "preset" position.

have your car running, select reverse, set the mirrors to a direction you want, store seat memory (it stores as mirrors 'cos you're in reverse).

i've had the software update and a new memory module, but over time with reversing and dipping the mirrors, I have to press the memory button to get them back to what I originally set them to.
annoying, but the service dealer doesn't seem to have a fix for it Confused

Have same problem. Don't notice it too much any more now that I took this advice from another forum... After reversing, make sure the mirrors have returned to the full and upright position Smile before you turn off the engine. Seems to be something with turning off the engine while they're returning to the preset. On mine, this seems to muck up the preset and sometimes even hitting the memory button would not reset things properly....

I have had mine set up and working as I preset them, then I used my other key, I thought I should use it a bit to charge it up, so I went through the procedure and set the mirrors up where I wanted them for reversing and stored the info as I had done for the other key. I then drove round the town, selected reverse and they dipped to the floor, I have tried resetting them 6 times and every time they dip to the floor. I put my other key back in and they dip to my preset. This makes no sense to me how can one key work and the other not.

Ours has just had the software upgrade to fix the mirrors. It was all a bit rushed at the dealer and when i got home, we tried for over half an hour to get them to dip to our preset level according to the book.

We eventually got them to set properly but this was after pressing buttons with the engine running and first setting the normal height for everyday driving. We cant remember exactly what order we did it but it now works and we are happy.
