Revs fluctuate at idle

Gday All,

Have noticed a slight fluctuation in RPM when the car is at idle, about 25 - 30 RPM , doesn't matter if hot or cold,

Just done 600km trip towing a trailer and car performed fine , with smooth gearbox changes , cruised on 100-110km/h without issue for 300kms today.

If I plug in Hawkeye I can see the revs fluctuating either side of the 750rpm its set at idle. Can see slight movement in the tacho needle at idle but steady as a rock when cruising.

Any suggestions on things to check ? 2008 TDV6 148,000ks on the clock

Cheers Ean

I seem to remember the oil temp sensor is one thing to check. Can you read the live values for that sensor on the Hawkeye?

I will have to check, but I am sure you can read the oil and gearbox temps.

Thanks for the reply.

Cheers

Dirty or faulty MAF sensors cause rough idle ... but usually also hesitation on reving. Try giving it a it a clean.
