Rhythmic knocking left rear
Hi All
Having been pointed in the right direction a few times on here I have another problem that I could do with your opinions on.
This morning the rear left of my D3 TDV6 S manual started with a rhythmic knocking sound that increases and decreases dependent on speed. There are no warning lights on the dash, the steering and braking are not affected and it doesn't matter what driving/suspension mode I stick it in. It also does it when I'm in neutral and coasting, and also reversing.
It kicks in quietly at around 5 to mph, with the volume peaking at around 30/40. Clunky sound.
Yesterday I drove over World's End near Llangollen back home. Certainly bumpier than normal but hardly off road, not sure if that has any relevance. There is also a little bit of juddering when breaking at speed so I'm aware the discs may be a little warped and needs addressing. They're the only issues I can think of that may be relevant, but doubt it.
I'm meant to be going away for a couple of days tomorrow and need the car. Like I said the steering, braking etc are unaffected so not sure if I should chance it at all? Will be doing around 300 miles in total.
I know it's very difficult to diagnose online, but any thoughts most welcome.
Cheers for reading.

Have you tried jacking up that wheel and turning it by hand to see if you can narrow down/spot what is causing it?

Thanks for all the suggestions folks, as always a help.
Took it to a mechanic this morning having jacked it up and failing (as expected) to be able to pinpoint it myself.
He had it sorted within the hour. Apparently 2 of the retaining clips of the caliper (?) had disintegrated and lodged themselves in a horrible place. Thankfully no further damage though.
Again, cheers for the responses.
