Ripple effect on the glass.Has anyone seen this before?

I have just noticed that my rear drivers side window now looks like there is a ripple effect on the glass.

I presume this is a problem with the tint, but does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Zack

Every single window on my 2005 D3 has the same. Cheap tinting is the cause.

You may also find that as it ages more, the window starts to turn blue-ish. It's the cheap dye getting bleach by the sun. Sadly there's no fix other than to rip it off and start again. Aparantly warming it up with a hairdryer then peeling it off and using GooGone etc will work best, though I haven't tried it yet.

Certainly aftermarket tinting film. Original is tinted glass.

I recon this is dealer fit tint.

If you check the spec, using the VIN No it probably states tint is fitted

I’m 99% sure it’s dealer fitted, there are no problems on any other windows.

What are the chances of it matching if I remove it and get it re-tinted? I don’t want one odd looking window.

The other windows may Still be original, the problem one may have been replaced with an aftermarket tint. Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks for the help.

Looking online it looks cheaper just to buy a tinted rear window from a salvage yard at ~£30-£40 that doesn’t have a problem and fit it.

Does anyone have any experience removing / replacing the rear windows?

Update.

This has now miraculously resolved itself and the ripple has completely gone.

No idea what’s going on!

Warm weather has caused the glass to expand and the tint material to soften. The greater distances between the points of contact has stretched the tint flat?.
If I am right the problem will probably come back in the winter.
