Mine isn't firing up every time, I would say about every other time but sometimes locks out. If I run it on the test it normally runs up ok. I'm guessing that's the combustion chamber is going to be bunged up and that's my cause? I'll take it off and clean it anyway but is there anything else that could be causing it? When it runs up it runs well and no problems once it's going. Also I run 2SO in mine, I've heard this can bung them up quicker, is that true?
Pete.IID, webasto software and workshop facility's available.

I've not seen enough to make a call on the 2sO, but I ran my D3 on it and my combustion chamber remained clear. It may even help to keep it clean; it certainly didn't do it any harm.

I have a failing FBH currently with error code 05 "Flame was detected prior to combustion" on my 55 plate Disco 3 according to my Altox controller. Id like to follow Robbie's excellent service guide and give it a good clean out. I'd also like to jury rig a test bench (as seen many times on you tube) to fire it up and check it running prior to refitting then finding out its not working, any ideas what I need to do to have one up and running on my bench???? Initial thoughts are -
1. A Bench - check
2. 12v power source - check
3. Diesel can (fuel) - check
4. Fuel Pipes (not sure of diameter, anyone help ??)
5. Water pipes & bucket of water for coolant (not sure of diameter, anyone help??)
6. fuel pump (is this within the FBH or need to be installed and powered separately inline?? If so maybe cheap one on ebay??). Also would this be a DP40 or DP41 part number?
7. FBH wire connector (or can I simply connect to the relevant pins somehow??). Is this even possible or do I need a switch?. Can someone please help me with what pins I need to wire to and where (ie + - on battery etc)
8. Laptop w/ webasto software - check
9. Diagnostics lom and USB to OBD K cable - just ordered so check
10 O-ring set (LR004141) - to be ordered
11 ... anything else anyone can think of ...
If anyone's done this in their own work bench and has any photos and rough guide to help me out with this it'd be much appreciated... . I'm looking to buy the parts I need this week so I can hopefully get it serviced and tested next week
I'm a bit of a newbie to this but happy to give it a bash so please be gentle...

The FBH fuel pump is a specific metering pump powered and controlled by a PWM signal from the FBH itself. It will need to be part of your rig, either taken from your vehicle (lives underneath, roughly below the driver's seat) or purchased.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
