A compressor horn will draw a lot more current than the standard ones, so yes, you'll need a relay. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

Replacement Relay?
Hey Robbie,
Thanks for writing such a great tutorial.
Do you guys have a recommendation for a replacement relay? I was running short on time and had my mechanic do the install and he just connected it to the existing horn of my Defender, which doesn't seem to have the power necessary to power the stebel. I never got the original relay back. I'm pretty sure I can follow this guide as long as I pick up a suitable replacement relay. Do you guys have any recommendations for a suitable replacement relay? Thanks
Michael

Pretty much any automotive relay would do but it makes more sense to buy the same type already fitted to the vehicle. That way you can swap them around should you have a failure at some point.
