Will be looking to get the feet and cross bars to fit the standard short roof bars on my D4 (when I get it).
Any recommendations on what to get? i.e. what feet pack, bars etc. I'll be carrying a couple of kayaks and/or a roofbox so needs to be able to hold about 45 - 60 kilos weight.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.Tony

I use whispbars, had them for a few years, only have to buy new feet to swap them from my audi A6 to the discovery. £30 for new feet.
They are quiet too.Jaguar I-Pace HSE imminent.

You can use the standard LR bars, often some for sale on here. I had a Thule aerobar already (with feet packs that fitted previous car), I just sold the old packs and bought the right packs for the D4. Very sturdy, carrying roof box and a bike.MY2012 D4 HSE Nara Bronze with some extra stuff
Thanks people. I have some existing Thule bars (not aero) I could use for now. Can someone identify the Thule foot pack I will need and does it allow for changing the bars at a later time to the aero bars?
Cheers for all your help.Tony

Look on either Thule website or I have used roofbox.co.UK before, to check the fittings required, usually two codes required, one for the bar connections and another for the rubber feet. I imagine the fitting to the bar is universal, but again, website should confirm.MY2012 D4 HSE Nara Bronze with some extra stuff

Don't buy LR ebay copies - buy LR new or second hand - world of difference in quality. Last of the D4 HSE...

Just be wary of what you will be carrying and the width need to fit them on the bars.
At the minute I am using the genuine LR bars but due to their design the useable width of track is compromised. I managed to fit 4 Thule 591 bike racks on but it’s extremely tight and the bikes are very close if not touching each other!
At some point I’ll probably upgrade to the Thule bars with the extra width as the bars go over the feet.
Like these...
Ok, after a few minor set backs with the D4 I'm back on the roof bar trail ready for the new season's kayaking.
I already have the Thule extra wide square bars left over from my D2, but obviously has the tall gutter foot pack.
I could do with some one telling me exactly what I need to connect these bars to the standard short bars on the top of the D4; i.e. the footpack number and the connection fittings.

Hi, I've got the Thule wingbars (969), 'low' feet kit (753), and connection kit (3027) on my Disco 4. Extended roof rails on mine, but it's the same for short rails I think. Sounds like you need the 753s and 3027s, but worth checking how your square bars connect to the feet you've got? Do the bars you have have a slide on connection underneath? If yes, then you should be fine.
I bought my bars years ago - they've been on 2x Ford Galaxy, 2x Disco 4s and a Kia Sorento, and only a £30 connection kit to swap them between models each time. Totally recommended.
Just what I needed discodaveabz...many thanks.Tony

Just to take this in a different direction, are the short roof rails long enough for you for your Kayaks? Would the long Roof rails be better or are they designed to be carried on standard space roof bars?
Erea, I'll find out once I get the bars fitted. The kayaks are 3m long so I think the full length bars could be a better option. However, I will see once I get them fitted.Tony
Just adding to the general topic of roof bars, I ran a set of Rhino Delta bars on my D3 for a while. I was pleasantly surprised how quiet they where. I'd even go as far to say they were quieter than the genuine LR bar I have.
I think the full set was about 90quid new so reasonably priced & a robust bit of kit.
