I need to carry some heavyweight ladders on my d3 which is the best system to use as the roof bars don't seem to be very strong can they take the weigh of a three piece ladder .

I've moved a 3 piece on my home-made bars … just split into the 3 pieces and spread the load. made it easier for lifting on and off too, so I didn't catch the high-level brake light.
