Rotating wheels & tyres

I have noticed that my front tyres seem to wear quicker than the rears. Is it adviceable to rotate them through the axle's Question

No - seriously I don't think that anyone does this any more, but there remains a rolling wheel size equality argument.

My personal view is that a centre diff. does away with worries about wheel size - your front wheels go further than your back wheels anyway! Shocked

I was told - and believe - that to rotate tyres to balance out uneven wear has three detriments:-
1. reduced grip until they bed in
2. accelerated wear as they bed in
3. they all wear out together and you have to buy a full set

Despite/following the above, if my front tyres wear faster I stick 'em on the back 'til they wear out, then put the 2 new tyres on the front and move t'others back to the back.

But this time I got a woodscrew in the lateral tread of a back one and just HAD to buy a full set of AT2s Big Cry Big Cry
 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

I've never rotated wheels (too lazy or change wheels anyway for offroading regularly) but supose the advantage of swapping & evening out the wear is that U need 4 at the same time and can get the "4 for the price of 3" deals.

Rather than rotate tyres to get the last mm tread wear I prefer to not rotate but replace all 4 when 1 tyre reaches minimum. May be more expensive in terms of tyres but may prove less expensive in terms of human life should I need to stop 3 tons in a hurry.
 There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

Scorpions have a built-in noise encoragement to change at around the 3mm mark... Rolling Eyes

Wouldn't bother rotating, I can't see any point in having an aim of all tyres equally worn out to that degree. Diffs are there to cope with a variety of rolling radius and distance differences/changes, only one factor of which is tyre wear.
