RR screen mode - cable fidling?

Hi guys,
Was going to do the RR-screen mod on my '08 D3, but I am not sure where exactly to locate the cable that needs to be adjusted.
Any help would be appreciated!
Cheers,
Andy

IIRC its the yellow cable on the multi-plug at the top. It just needs a break but some put a switch in to allow configuring between RR and D3 on the screen

I recalled incorrectly........ Shocked

Wigg's post on this page has a good description: http://disco3.co.uk/forum/topic74474.html

Quote:
remove the touch screen (held in with 4 torx screws ) then there are 4 screws holding the black surround on ...remove them and take off the black surround .
There you will see the connector pictured above ....its the connector for the 2 hard buttons

i cut the wire and put a switch inbetween so i could switch between the RR and Disco software

you have to let the car go to sleep after selecting either ...then when you restart the software will come on automatically

So it's a different wire then the one shown in Wiggs his thread?

So I just cut this wire If I understand exactly?

btw, my nav screen is held in place with four philips screws as opposed to the torx screws that Wiggs talks about.

After pulling the screen forward (without disconnecting it) this is what I have to work with...

Looks different Confused

No it IS the cable in Wiggs thread, I now remember it was fiddly to get at... and its the one where the black mark on the connector indicates

Just follow what Wiggs has written and its fairly straight forward

So it is the very tine cable going to the hard buttons (as Wiggs mentioned before Embarassed )

For size comparison...

So now I have cut the forth wire...

But everything still looks the same! Is there a special way to access the RR menu?

Did you let the car go to sleep? As per Wiggs instructions?

Yep, waited 10 minutes before checking and voila, there it is...! Mr. Green

Everything seems to work, including volume control for the CD.

Brightness of the screen is definately an issue, but not that big of a problem at this moment.

Sat nav seems to have dropped a couple of its UI-options, but functions well.

Radio is going strong, Phonebook does not work but I can acces it whilst choosing the "recent calls"/ "missed calls"-options.

Only thing to do now is to go buy an aftermarket reversing cam and installing it. Any good practical how to's for a noob concerning this?

what about one of these:

Would save running a cable rear to front.
Not sure what else you'd need.

A good fix to the brightness issue can be found in this post

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic74474.h...;start=330

(actually most of the info you need can be found in this post).

The rear view camera has to be NTSC and you have to enable it in the CCF configuration for it to work. Very Happy

Was going to add that before you snip the cable, pick a section further back to allow connection of two lengths of cable to allow switching. I have done it and it is great to be able to swap between D3 mode in bright weather and RR mode in darker weather.

Did anyone fit an reverse camera to the RR mod and what do I need for the cam to work?

Shouldn't the screen show bla k when selecting reverse but without the cam fitted?
