RSE Remote Control?
Hi all, I've been lurking here since getting my gorgeous nearly new (4,000 miles) red MY2012 D4 two weeks ago and have found this site a wealth of useful information.
I've had a look on the forums for this, but couldn't find a definitive answer. Can anyone tell me if the Rear Seat Entertainment system is supposed to come with a remote control? My dealer is telling me that it definitely doesn't and that it isn't possible to supply me with one. If this is really the case, how are the kids supposed to control the DVD in the back, as I can't rewind or ff all the time while driving?
Thanks for anyone who can advise me on this so I can go back to the dealer with more confidence to ask again (if it should have been supplied)!

I take it that it is a LR factory fit RSE?
Mine is a MY10 and it has a remote for the kids so would be surprised if there wasn't one for yours

Thanks for the replies. It is a factory fit RSE and the car was bought as an ex demo model direct from the dealer so there's really no excuse! I'll go back to the guy who sold it to me and push a little harder for them to give me a replacement remote. I've just spent a fortune with them for this car so I really don't understand why they are trying to save a few quid by not giving me what seems like an essential piece of equipment with it.

Sierra - It definitely does come with a remote mate Might be worth going over the salesmans head and speak to the sales manager or even the dealer principle of he still tries to BS you. Might be worth mentioning you have had advice on here too! If it's any consolation, every one of my D4s came with a remote although sometimes, they get left out of the vehicle straight from the factory. It only takes a phone call to the factory and the remote is in in the next couple of days!
Good luck and let us know how you get on. Just out of interest, who is the dealer? My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

@Steveraspberry - thanks for the reply. It's good to know exactly where I stand on this! I've nudged the dealer nicely again (it's Barretts in Canterbury, who have been nothing but nice and helpful so far, apart from this issue) but if the salesman is still saying no, I will go up the chain as you suggested. I'm still contemplating taking out a 3 year service plan with them (although they're not the closest LR dealer to me) but let's see how they handle this first...

Glad you've nudged them again. Personally, I'd be minded to employ a direct approach, especially as you're considering spending more money with a service plan with them. If they have lied to you before re the remote control, can you trust them with doing the service properly? I know the car will have the remainder of the warranty in place as well as Land Rover Assist unless they're telling you that doesn't come included either
It might be worth posting a question to the Land Rover Customer Service board on here too:

Success!!! Had an email from the dealer saying he'd ordered a remote (despite having told me 3 times that the system didn't come with one )
Thanks to everyone on this board who replied to me about this and gave me the courage to keep pushing. You all deserve a big pat on the back!
