Hi all, we have just become new members to the disco experience and bought ours only last week. Have noticed however the n/s/f headlight (bi-xenon) is not switching to dipped beam. The o/s is fine but don't want to blind other road users. I'm assuming it will be some issue with the solenoid operated flap but would like any hints, tips or guidance before I take it apart not knowing what im looking for. Any help would be much appreciated and look forward to my knowledge growing so I may return...

view forum post
Hey guys

Just joined up here and been reading up on Discovery 3's.

My brother tragically passed away a few weeks ago and was the exceptionally fairly recent proud owner of an '05 Discovery.

I have a few questions really to pick you guys' oh so knowledgable brains haha. Either I take on his car, which would be something nice to look after for him and be proud of, but I am only 24 and am trying to weigh up a/ If I can afford it, b/ if it's...

view forum post
I think the above says it all,

Wipers come on on their own, central locking won't work, panel tells me there is a key in ignition when its in my hand and worst thing is the battery keeps going flat overnight,

Any suggestions ?

I fancy fitting some of those black plastic light guards as found on the G4 vehicles. The pattern ones from Paddocks and eBay seem a lot cheaper than the Genuine Parts.
Does anyone have any experience with these? Good or Bad!

A landrover dealer has fitted a new l/r battery & alternator and yet the battery periodically continues to go completely flat. I can go a week using the car everyday without any problems and then the next day the battery is flat. I fact the battery has gone flat in the space of 4 hours. Once its started i can continue to use it daily and then it goes again. L/R hav egiven up and have suggested replacing the information mamagement system. Has this happened to anyone else and does anyone...

view forum post
Does anyone know whether fitting white grill lights is legal? A friend has orange ones fitted to his D2, for when he is towing (and more ), and the police haven't batted an eyelid. Is this the case with white ones, or are they only for the emergancy services?

view forum post
OK, so bought a recentish disc for the D3 and works fine and has done for ages. However it has serious issues in directing me from a to b in what can only be described as a sensible route. I asked it to take me from Regents Park back to our village in Herts and some of the requests it chucked out were crazy. U turns where it is illegal and on also on a dual carriage way, it asked me to turn off the A1 continuously for 3 junctions prior to the correct one which is the most direct and...

view forum post
_________________
James favourite hobby is writing in the third person.
Popped out to shop and on my way back got the worst screeching metal sound coming from front end, I pulled over thinking the gearbox or front diff was about to explode. Not really knowing what to do I selected reverse and rolled back slowly, as I did I felt something click so put it back into drive and all back to nrmal again. I can only put it down to a bit of grit lodged between pad and disc.so panic over... Just bought a atera strata 3 bike bike rack, lovely piece of kit easy to install fitted 3 large mountain bikes fine. Solid on towball. Just one concern when it was loaded up it seem to be able to wobble a lot. A lot of flex in bike rack. Is this normal cuz I'm heading down to Normandy France in a couple of weeks and just wanted to check.

Anyway, this brought me on to doing a bit of research on cleaning leather seats as the simoniz cream stuff didn't seem to be doing to good a job. (Did get rid of shine though). Anyone got suggestions for somewhere offering this in the South Bucks area.

Hello all. Not sure where to start with things. Basically I am looking for a D3 commercial. My last Disco was one of the first 200TDi and boy have they changed since! I own a couple of Defenders at the moment but due to changes in work, I am looking to go back to a Discovery. Could anyone advise any complications of purchasing a vehicle from Ireland? A local garage seems to be doing a lot of trade with imports. I don't know why but my Spidey senses are tingling and I am wary.

Chaps, i have discounted the discs and pads, all true. Getting the dreaded knock from front end though on the f/n/s. Is this the ONLY reason or could it be something else as well. Booked in with indy to sort the lower front wishbone but does anything else need to be sorted in your opinion?? Cheers, Jase.

view forum post
_________________
He doesn't ask for much........But gives a lot.
So I have searched the site but I am not any wiser! Xenon / halogen? I thought the headlights on my D3 were not great so went to Hal Fords and some Ultra something Ring bulbs at £25 a pair. Great I can see better, few moths later POP, passenger bulb went when turned on. Changed for same type POP other ones goes a day or so later. Tonight one has gone, just thinking the other will go.
Without plugging in or too much hassle is there any way to find out what bulbs are the right and...

view forum post
