[For Sale] Citroen XM estate 2.5td vsx and Citroen Xantia Activa

Sorry being lazy but here's the link to the other site where they are for sale.

https://frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/viewtop...afdeab9a5a

Donation to the site if sold thru here.

They ain't pretty or perfect but the xm is ready to drive away( heading to Northern Ireland next week and then Devon/Cornwall the week after. The Activa has no MOT but won't take much to get thru another but I simply don't have the time with my other projects.

£600 each or if you want both £900 if taken before the end of the month!

2.5 TD XM estate - still my all time favourite estate car! Thumbs Up

They've been rare as hen's teeth for many years now though Sad

Crumbs! I had 2 of those in the 1990's! First was a base model estate, then I got a 2.0 petrol turbo VSX. Really nice car, but very troublesome! My colleague had a diesel and it blew its engine. My petrol went through a turbo, then the hydraulics packed up.

Both are quite rare in this country now Smile

Both have had their niggles over the years and are far from perfect but that's why they priced as they are.

If I could find some super cheap storage I would probably keep both and come back to then in a few years but it's just easier to let them go really.

I've just been to look at the photos on the French car forum and now I miss my old ones! Big Cry

A J reg 2.0 8v petrol estate in 1994, a P reg 2.5d VSX estate in 1999 and a M ref 2.5d VSX estate (with the rare air con!) in 2000. All of them were brilliant, even if the 8v was a bit slow. It was in the days when estates were practical and called estates, rather than built to hold two vanity cases and a hairdryer and given effeminate names like "Sportbrake" Evil or Very Mad

The last XM was traded for a shiny new C5 2.0 Hpi petrol estate in 2012. A truly terrible car, which put me off for life Sad

The HPIs are some of the worst engines made imo!

Aircon is more common than you think on the 2.5's but the problem is the tensioner for the aux belt is a consumable item and no longer stocked by citroen and whilst some have made workable ones from other citroens with some tweaking I'd rather not have the hassle and just use the window and sunroof.

It's a good old workhorse and I've squeezed in just under 3m' of wood in the back with the back seat squads it and folded flat. She wasn't fast but she didthe job perfectly well!

I'll miss her butbunless I found somewhere dry to store her for £10/month semi locally, then she has to go...

Oh, that Hpi engine!!

In the 12 months that I owned it, before rejecting it, it spend 5 1/2 months in the dealer's workshop! By the time it had reached its first service, it had already had two pairs of new cam shafts AND a new engine. It broke down within 1/2 a mile of it's one and only scheduled service and when they charged me over £200 for the loan car while they waited 3 days to look at it again, I saw red and rejected it. By the time that the rejection process was complete (10 days or so), it decided to eat the cam shafts in the new engine Laughing I got some satisfaction dropping it off outside the dealer, sounding like a million mile old London taxi!

By contrast, all three XM engines were perfect, running up to around 140,000 miles without consuming any oil and having zero mechanical issues Thumbs Up
