England 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Arctic FrostDiscovery 3

Bodsy

I have some thin galv wire rope if you want some, will have to get up in garage loft to measure size. I haven't got any cleats but I can splice small loops in the ends if that's any good.

I also have some sheets of aluminum up in the loft about 3 x 2 feet its plastic coated cream on one side about 2mm thick. Always going to make something but never did.

Wire is 3mm

Paul.

So, update on where we are ( Censored me, it's been a marathon to get this Censored far!!!) (sorry for the Censored expetives, but it's taken me a LOT of spare time to do this)

So you saw previously, that I took the door skins off & re-rivetted them, thanks to Coachmans Air Compressor and the £30 spent on the air rivetter, I had it re-rivetted a lot quicker (but still took a lot longer than anticipated!)

Gotta say, the state of the old rivets, if I hadn't done this, then I'm sure I would have had bits flying off along the roads on the way to Pembroke this week & france the week after.....

Anyway, the whole thing is now pretty solid and having had a good mooch about underneath last weekend, the chassis is in fantastic condition.

Removed all the old wiring and then re-cabled with 12N and 12S cabling. I wanted to use both so I had a reversing light on the trailer, not bothered about the other features at the moment.

So, this gives the back of the Sankey in it's raw ex-army state

After replacing ALL the rivets (except the HD stainless steel ones), knocking some dents and gouges out a little, rubbing the damned thing down, I then coated it with 2pack Etch Primer (twice!)

Gave it then a good coat of 2pack filler primer

Sankey Back 1st Coat Primer

Then another coat of primer (after another basic rub-down

Sankey Front 2nd coat primer

Sankey Front 2nd coat primer

Test fitted the elec box that will switch on the lights and holds the voltage display

Sankey 2nd Coat, test fitting Elec switch/fusebox

Closer of above

Then a light rubbing (coz I couldn't be asked at that point and two coats of Black Gloss

Sankey Side/rear Sprayed Black

Sankey Front Sprayed Black

Sankey Back Sprayed Black

It really needs another coat of black gloss, but I ran out of paint and have now run out of time! So there are some catches and other bits that will need to go back on, having only been primed. Will have to wait til the end of August to finish the black gloss bits.

The inside paint job clearly needs another coat when you see it in the daylight Embarassed Embarassed

Still, jobs to do!
Fitted the 115Ah battery. fitted to an Anderson connector so I can charge on the way down.
Re-Wired, just need to connect the new lights back on and wire them in (Thursday nights job!!)
Have made brackets for them from some of the donated ally (thanks Chesters)
Have also yet to find some replacement rubber for the doors, anyone else help, the window rubbers weren't the right size and I thoiught I found a place in Birmingham that was likely to have some, but their number is unobtainable, so I assume they've gone bust.....
Have also yet to do the rear shelf that I will use the wire (also from Chesters) have managed to get some stainless bits to go with the wire and some galved bits for adjustment. That'll be Friday's job!

Got to get the tyres from Simoniz fitted to the wheels from VA thursday afternoon, then fit the wheel hub adapters & get them fitted for Friday night, whilst also making up some (very Quick!!!) wheel arches to cover the extra space that the wheels stick out fro the body.

ALso got to wire in the LED lights and wire up the switches to the battery.

It's all Go GO GO and I don't have any time before leaving 8am on Saturday!

Anyway, off for some Tapas now, but anyone else can help with the rubber on the first page, Perhaps MattTDV6's mate who builds trailers....? Whistle Whistle Whistle

ANyway, thouight I'd keep you up to date Thumbs Up

I'll remind of the fact that this service comes free of charge and normally I would levy a cost to obscure someones living room window with a Tangiers Orange XL Sankey. Consider yourself lucky my boy, now crack on with the double secret project we discussed Question

Secret project you say....... Whistle Whistle Whistle Whistle

And I'll only spray it if you get some other mug to rub it all down! I've had enough of wet N dry to last a lifetime!!!!

Seriously, once I got past the understanding that it's a TRAILER and not a car, the rubbing down became much less of a priority Rolling Eyes

But I'd also urge you to reserve taking up my paint spraying services until you se ethe truly appaling job I've done on it in the flesh Laughing

RLD, thanks for that, will give them a try Thumbs Up
