Are the CJB plug /connections easy to find / inspect?
Having previously suffered the usual HSE sunroof drain problem, I'm a little curious to see if a corroded connection has caused this bother....Not such a Disco Newbie now!

Just about to do a hard reset but I've got an extra bit attached to the red/positive cable. A black connector. Is this ok to be attached when I join the cables?

yes.
the black think out the bottom is the fuse for the starter and alternator.
So you disconnect the battery earth terminal.
And then you connect the car leads together with a spare bit of wire.
If you aren't sure you can just leave the battery disconnected for 15 mins+

I'm now questioning the same thing, as I found last week the passenger footwell is a pond.
I've had this once before, last winter, and had the typical central locking issues that come from this (and had the wire splice performed and drain tubes trimmed to clear them) but now I'm thinking this might be connected.
To add to that, the sunroof leaked and poured water over the passenger
and this morning I had a call from SWMBO to say it was holding around 3k revs whilst at slow speed.
