Suspect it has something to do with dodgy connection or water ingress. Happened to me today for the first time. We've had a week of storms. LH footwell is very wet (LH drive car).
Also read this: "Your view screen has lost communication with the amp and CD ROM drive under the front seats is one possible cause. There is a TSB on pinched wires to do with this. Mine had corroded connections along the passenger side sill trim panel and caused the exact same symtom." 33370 Fargues Saint Hilaire
