And... unrepairable to boot. Lots of very clever curves and extrusions in the inner bodywork so that it weighs next to nothing.

What I have been wondering how safe or unsafe is a large car like D3 qith quite rigid frame, as if the steel does not bend, it is bigger forces impacting passengers.

Chris - the reason I was slowing down in the first place was the police had temporarily closed both lanes to turn a recovery truck around that was collected one of the vehicles from the earlier fatal that had closed the A34 earlier in the morning. A car had gone into the back of a wagon and burst into flames. The "private ambulance" with the blacked out windows came past us while we were waiting for the fire brigade to cut the top off the saxo. There but for the grace of god and all that...

J. People must of got the two accidents mixed up and presumed that this one was the fatality. I was only going 4 miles further up the a34 to a clay shoot, but a lot of people got delayed so it didnt affect me, in fact it allowed a little more time for the mist to clear. when I left and rejoined the A34 southbound someone had ploughed a nice looking BMW into a lampost on the exit sliproad, so the police had a busy day on that stretch of road.

Yeah, I still shot but regretted it afterwards - prob still full of adrenaline and still in shock and wasn't feeling too sore but it really kicked in later in the day. Don't suppose shooting made it any worse, but doubt it helped.

Hi J, glad you're ok after the bump. It was my watch that was called to cut the girl out (thankfully didn't attend the fatal further up the road though)....I wasn't on duty, but the lads said they had a busy night! From what we've heard, the girl is fine, by the way, just to let you know.
Blimey, from the horses mouth (so to speak). Nice to have you on board Mark. I'm sure J will be delighted to hear the other driver is doing ok. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Hi NoDo$h, thanks for the welcome! Almost from the horse's mouth - I was on a course all last week, so had this weekends shift's off compensatory leave, so missed out on a few 'interesting' jobs.
It does always surprise me how lucky people seem to be in those little cars though - makes me glad I'm in a Discovery. TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue
