Lost the car to someone else this morning..
A little gutted.. but I did find out that the car had missed a couple of services also,, so not too upset as I know servicing these things is absolute key..
So, back on the hunt for a Disco3 HSE with sub 45K miles FSH....

Unusual "deposit" you paid, then?
Missed services would ring bells, so maybe not such a loss. Good luck in your hunt. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

Well just drive 190 miles home in the d3, have to say I'm impressed with the ride quality. I have had one warning appear thou for low coolant. Popped into hslfords and grabbed some. Never put coolant in before..I take it, let the car cool down, them just to up..is there a level I need to observe?
the car needs a real good t-cut and wax.. Plus I do have a couple of minor scratches and stone chips that need attention. Does anyone have recommendations for someone to do this in north staffordshire?
The big plus is my wife likes the car also which is good as it is hers..lol

There was a coolant sensor issue with a lot of the early ones (fix is a new expansion chamber with sensor) so you may have enough coolant, there's level marks on the chamber to check when you fill it up.
Make sure you get the right coolant (handbook tells you what type it should be or buy a bottle from a LR dealer), shouldn't mix different types The End

Personally, I would also check the quality of the existing in order that it covers the forthcoming lower temp as the previous owner might have just topped up periodically with water
As for the level, best advise get a small torch and shine in from the far side and you'll see the level indicator saying "cold fill" or "fill when cold" or something.
If the coolant level is ok and yer still getting the coolant message then its off to yer LR dealer to have the expansion bottle changed as there is a float sensor which goes hard in time thus giving yer a false message, not expensive to buy and should be able to do yourself (good tip would be to ask the parts dept to run off the workshop manual for changing it )
Lots of major retailers do a "free winter health check" including yer local Halfords Service Centres
BTW are you going to get yer LR dealer to do a "pre-warranty" inspection for peace of mind and bugeting purposes or our very own mobile D3 super spanners aka forum member 10forcash

I'm not sure if I'm going to LR dealer our warranty direct for a warranty.
I've just been having a conversation with the boss and I want to to get a service done within the next few days.
At the same time I really would like to get the scratches and paint chips done.. what sort of company can do these for me, any ideas

Unnecessary quote removed
what I meant by "pre-warranty inspection" was that it covers around 90 or more critical areas of the car in order that you have peace of mind regards any future/immediate repairs.
You dont have to have a warranty or be buying a warranty from them but its alot more comprehensive an inspection than the "free health check" some LR dealers do when its in for a service - you'll find that the sales dept have it done prior to putting a used vehicle on the forecourt
