If you undo the two screws and remove the plastic plate below the red leaver it will give you access to the handbrake release cable.

If you ever need it it's a metal wire with a loop on the end - you need to give it a really hard pull for it to work.

Thanks. Very useful to know! All I was doing was looking for a rogue tic tac that was causing a rattle and I ended up finding out about all this!
