Yeah. Applecross Estate used to be owned by the Wills family. They transferred the estate many years ago to the Applecross Estate Trust which is now run by a board of Trustees. The Wills Family is still represented on the board. The family have exclusive use of Applecross House and fishing on the river even though the affairs of the estate are now managed by the Trust.D1 300Tdi - gone

Had a week up near Aviemore last week. Fantastic place and the weather was scorching. We stayed in a cottage miles away from anywhere and it was amazing. Shame it only lasted a week but we are going again in september, and february

Scotland......... Simply Stunning. Was on the isle of skye in may and loved every minute of it.
It was the first time i had been above Glasgow and it was breathtaking. We stopped in a beautiful house/cottage just above the tallisker brewery in carbost.
Definitely going back soon.

Photos of Nevis Range posted by Ceekay on page one of this thread brought back memories. I and my team flew the big red bird which lifted and placed the pylons and lots of other heavy construction material up the mountain. Good fun when weather was good and everything going well. I remember getting up the mountain with a portacabin hanging underneath when the clouds just rolled down and enveloped us. Hovered for about 10 minutes focusing on a single rock we could just keep in sight before it luckily cleared.
Some poor quality video shot by the construction company here. Bear in mind it was taken in 1989. We feature somewhere after 4 minutes into the clip.
Credit to the pilots of the smaller helicopters who shifted all the concrete and lighter stuff. They worked very fast and hard.

Its a lovely place, glad you liked it (did you watch our cabin in the woods dvd?? . Think we will be going back there one day. Am up in Aviemore again in feb for a week and again for our honeymoon in May but staying in Aviemore itself. Would have gone back to this cottage but the missus will be 8 months pregnant by then so thought we better go somewhere a bit nearer civilisation

Wow that looks fantastic.
I am heading you to the Highlands in late Feb. Does anyone know if the Bealach na Bà road will be passable at that time (as i saw some warning about snow in winter)? I am doing a driving holiday round Inverness but i might may a bit of detour if the road is passable as that looks amazing. Not sure it will will look so great with gale force winds and rain in Feb though!!

Bealach has the potential to be closed any time between probably October and May.
But is highly unlikely to be closed for a full day or even more than a few hours, and I can't remember the last time I heard it reported on traffic news that it was closed. And even then I wouldn't believe it, unless I was close by.
I heard yesterday the A939 Cockbridge-Tomintoul was closed, as I was driving on it in sunshine and on black tarmac!
