SCREEN TREATMENT.

Hi Guys, Just a wee thing i,v found to be good!! Screen Treatment called "RAIN/X" comes in a 200mll bottle, after wash and dry, just apply with a clean cloth as per instructions on bottle.
When it pCensoreds down the rain just wont stay on the screen, you can drive comfortably without the wipers going its that good!! Also good for rear glass as it seems to keep the muck off as well, Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up have tried this but found wipers do smear more when they are used ( low speed) have you? Also seems to be a monthly or o treat as it wears off.

Re Treat at monthly intervals or more if needed, Dont miss anywhere when applying as its annoying having to use wipers for a small area, also i wash the wipers well. Thumbs Up

Have also put some silicone wipers on that are supposed to repel water. They are very good in the rain but when washing the screen/ or only if a little rain they screech. I hoped the rain x would help this but doesn't seem to have done. If they are good in v cold then I will keep them - if not back to original ones I think.

I also found using RainX caused the wipers to smear more than normal, maybe it's a downside of this product Confused

If you can source Aquapel, it works amazingly well. The treatment has also held up on the windshield for well over a year.

The only aquapel I know is a lube we used on door seals to stop squeaks (Bmw had a huge issue with this)
Who makes the aquapel you use and how is it applied please? Would be interested to see if available here.

Hi John, I think Aquapel is made by PPG (who create coatings and paint for BMW and Mercedes, among others I believe).

It comes in a single-use applicator which you "crack" open, spread over the glass, then wipe off - it then chemically bonds to the glass instead of forming a film.

Here's some info and a review I found:
http://www.aquapel.com/What-is-Aquapel.php
http://www.jwardell.com/mini/2006/04/11/rain-x-vs-aquapel/

And I usually source it online or on ebay (since I'm cheap Mr. Green )

Cheers,
Dylan

Thumbs Up

I also found this. Used to cause smearing on the front screen, so ended up only using it the side and tail windows (as that wiper never gets used)

Same as Mikey for me as well, side and rear window and mirrors, I didn't like the effect on the windscreen. I only reapply about twice a year

Just ordered some ombrello screen treatment from fleabay. Will post results when tested. Supposed to be aquapel under another name and chemically bonds to the screen. We shall see!!

Lads the idea of rain x is you don't use the wipers and if its applied do use the wiper ever, until it become less active then reapply.
