The only thing I don't like about the standard auto shifter is it limits where you can put your fish supper to scoff on the move. Alegedly.

Can you just imagine the grating noise when you turn the dial if the salt gets in there, or the vinegar marking the chrome? Mind you I do have a few shrivelled up chips down the side of the driver seat's runner, will dig them out when hungry enough.

Fab fish & chips there, but haven't been there for too many year. I feel a road trip needs planning, but not til next spring.

That's for a small (school sprog) bag, good for a starter. Bigger bag £1.50 or is it £2.00. All this talk of chips is making me hungry. Good to see we're so far away from gearbox comparisons.

Word of caution. Disregard anyone's opinion about MPG unless they are measuring it full tank to full tank as the on-board computer is wildly inaccurate. My computer is giving 30mpg but my calculations show 25mpg. The computer is out by 17%. Yes I've noticed a lag on acceleration on my brand new D4 but am hoping it will go away when the adaptive 'box learns my driving style. Perhaps I'm naive (but not as naive as people who believe on-board computers when it comes to mpg)

Do you reset the computer at the same time that you fill up ?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Mine is always within 0.2 mpg of the true figure, typically showing just 0.1 mpg more than the iPhone app calculates. 17% out is pretty unacceptable.

Yes every time but mine seems to be reading 3 or 4 high whereas my D3 was always within 1.
I'm averaging 26 - 27 mpg at the moment but still within first couple of thousand miles.
I like the flappy paddle as its easy to select command shift, especially if accelerating from say 50 - 70 on the motorway to stop it changing down when it really doesn't need to, so hopefully helping economy. I don't think I would bother on a stick.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Robbie,
What's that APP you've got on your phone?
I've always said the "Lieometer" is just that....it tells fibs! When car manufacturers give their official figures it is based on a timed run on a dedicated track, not on a motorway or A road with undulations etc. In other words, it's not in the real world!!
My car shows at least 2 to 3 mpg difference on the Lieometer on all types of driving. I suppose if we buy a LR we have to expect it to be poor on fuel. We are after all, driving vehicles with the aerodynamics of a brick and weighing 2 tons!!
