Se vs HSE

I've just ordered an SE spec with roof bars and rails & triple moonroof (£900!). The salesman tried to talk me into a HSE for an extra £2k but what exactly do you get for this? One inch bigger wheels (yo!); a better hi-fi (I listend to both and I'm damed if I can tell the difference); a talking sat nav rather than a non-talking sat nav (I think I'd turn the talking bit off); and front pdc (might be useful, but a fairly cheap extra).

So is the HSE really worth the extra dosh?

Will there be a Vogue in due course?

Mr. Green

The HSE will hold its price better than an SE with extras. On the day of reckoning yours will be an SE and only be worth SE money. I faced this same dilema and spent the extra £2K for this reason. My boss has just bought a merc E320 with £20K of extras, he didn't pay any more for the car at a year old than if it was standard!

Good point. I suppose the reality is that on a brand new model, the depreciation is likely to be fairly slow anyway. The SE buyer only loses out if the percentage depreciation is bigger than on the HSE - and it's too early to say yet. And it depends on the extras - roof bars I would have thought a necessity, alongwith the auto box and metallic; the moonroof I suppose many would not value it much....

Thanks for your thoughts. Smile
