Sear Belts locking in rear seat passengers! |
|
Hi,
The seat belts in the middle row (possibly the rear as well), often lock up, if you lean back to release it, it continues to lock up and eventually you get really stuck in the seat. The only thing you can do is release the belt at the buckle and let it retract all the way back, then start again.
Is there anyway of reducing the effect or so that when you let pressure off the belt it doesn't keep the belt locked!
It's quite nice that the kids are kept in check, but adults moan a bit!

RTFM
They have been pulled out to max at some point in the past and are now on ratchet / load retaining setting - good for baby seats.
To reset read the manual to be sure, but I think you have to extend them fully and let them go back into normal mode "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Awesome! Thanks.
I used the RTFM comment on our support database at work, not used to be on the receiving end!
Thanks for the info
Probably quicker response than RTFM anyway. D3 HSE MY05 Auto

90BHP wrote:good for baby seats. Yep, but NOT good for child seats! Later models have ISO fixings + a deep channel to hold the lap belt in place. When the seat belt is in ratchet mode it has to be allowed to return fully into the reel to cancel ratchet mode. But if it's hooked over a projection on a child seat you can't. And you can't remove the child seat from the ISO points without releasing the belt. Catch 22. I nearly took a knife to the belt once as it seemed the only viable way of releasing it. I was lucky; 20 minutes in Geoff Capes mode and I eventually managed to wrench the seat out of the fixings and twist it out. This ratchet should have a release button IMHO. Dr. Ian Malcolm:
