However I think you may be confusing tax classification for vat status
The gov. web says:
"You be be able to reclaim all the VAT on a new car if you use it only for business.
The car must not be available for private use, and you must be able to show that it isn’t, eg it’s specified in your employee’s contract.
‘Private use’ includes travelling between home and work, unless it’s a temporary place of work."
I know several other companies that also run discos as tow vehicles, I'm confident that them like I wouldn't swallow the vat element of a £40k purchase when a ford ranger was you'd probably do the job
