Second Service 'Missed' ?

Collected my used D3 from the dealers today Mr. Green

Supposed to come with a FSH & was told it would be serviced before we picked it up.

40k on the clock and is about 6 weeks under 3 years old.

Anyway, got it home, & whilst reading through it's service history book noticed it had it's first A service at 17k, then nothing till having another A service at 40k a few days before we collected it.

So it seems to have gone 23k without a service, which is less than ideal & also appears never to have had a B service at all.

Is this going to be a problem at all?

Is there anything that gets done/changed on a B service that might need doing still?

Might this possibly cause me any warranty issues in the future? Because as far as I can see, it's not been serviced at the correct intervals Confused

Did you buy from a LR dealer?
If yes I would be asking sticky questions of them Wink

Sort of a dealer - It is Trinity Motors in Hinckley and they are no longer an LR authorised dealer, however, they are still an authorised repair and service center on landrovers website.

I am hoping it may be that the book may have just been not stamped. Will check tomorrow, presume if the book has not been stamped it should be on a computer somewhere if was done by a dealer?

mmm Trinity
We looked at a couple of D3's in there 2 weekends ago, there was no 'LR' salesman in at all (the one there was from their Mazda showroom across the way) he had no details available on the 2 cars we were looking at.
He scribbled our details on a bit of paper and said we would get a call Monday morning.
2 weeks later nearly and no call, funnily enough we wont be making a return visit Wink

Unnecessary quote removed

Have to say the guy we dealt with was quite good, however, we where meant to be buying some 20" alloys and he was selling me the wrong rated tyres. I know nothing about LRs, but read a lot on here before we went ahead and felt as though we knew more than they did. Also a few issues re the warranty as they only give an AA one, but the service manager was very good as i questioned a lot of stuff, should have looked at the service book before i left though. But when they say full LR service history we thought we were just getting the 45K A service a bit early, not realising it seems to have missed the B altogether.

Hopefully it is an oversight, will investigate tomorow, but will not be happy if it has missed one, though i have had all new brake discs etc put on.

Thought I'd check out the air filter seeing as it has just had it's second A service. This is it.

Is this ok still?

That don't look too good does it, does it say in the service schedule in the book when the filter should be changed. Every year? every 2?
My van has just had its changed at 20k (2 years) and it wasn't that bad to be honest.

Speaking from experience, having bought the wife a Golf last year the exact same thing happened, got home checked the book and no stamp for first service,

I was told not to worry as a Doctor had owned it Shocked

Anyway, long story short: They failed to produce ANY documentation as to the first service so i took it back and demanded a refund, the advertisement declared it to have full VW Service History, other niggling things contributed to my decision but the outcome was.

This was from a VW dealership though.

Good luck though whatever you do Thumbs Up

And if i were u i,d change the filter.

If I'm understanding the service schedule correctly, the air filter should be changed at it's second 'A' service, which is the one it had a couple of days ago. So this air filter should be a new one then? Confused

Thats right, LR only change the filter every 45000 miles or 3 years on the D3 as they do not think they need to change it every service Rolling Eyes I bought some air filters from TLO and have changed it every year.

I put a new air filter in mine at 2 years old ..just over 30k . Yours looks very similar to the one I took out of mine after 30k miles....so suspect it has been in there since new. Should certainly have been replaced as part of service that they say it has just had !!
Evil or Very Mad
Good Luck
 Cheers Ian

Too many people describe a car has having "full service history" when what they mean is they've had it serviced every 12k or whatever, which often means about every 18 months rather than the prescribed 12 months that is usual (I'm not about cars that have the onboard computer to advise when it is based on variable usage as per my previous VW's, Skoda's and Merc's, etc.).

I was looking at a Honda Civic last year from franchised dealer and they told me it had "full and comprehensive Honda servicing". Closer inspection of the book showed it to be as I described; owner (an OAP) had it serviced at 14k miles, by Honda at nearly two years old, whereas it should have been every 12 months or 12k, whichever came sooner. So car was just three years old but had only had one service at 14k miles with 20k on the clocks......

I told the dealer he was telling porkies and misrepresenting but he just shrugged. On the courtesy follow-up call I informed them why I wouldn't be buying the car and against was attempted to be flannelled off with words such as "advisory" and "would be serviced before delivery", etc. Couldn't answer how I could part-ex it back with a guarantee they would honour the "full dealer service"

Second Service Missed

I bought a D3 with 34k on the clock from Trinity Motors a couple of weeks ago with a claimed FSH. The service book however shows the first service only. I'd be interested to know how you get on with them. Crying or Very sad
