Selecting low range on the move (MY14)

With my previous MY13 D4 selecting low range on the move (gearebox in N) was possible at speeds below 40km/h. With my MY14 this is no longer possible and low range can only be selected with the car stationary. Switching from lo to high is still possible while on the move.

The current owners manual states:

Quote:
The recommended method of changing the range of the gearbox is with the vehicle stationary, see STATIONARY RANGE CHANGING. For experienced off-road drivers, a change from low (Lo) range to high (Hi) range, while on the move can be accomplished, see CHANGING FROM LOW TO HIGH RANGE.
CAUTION

Changing from Hi range to Lo range can only be performed while the vehicle stationary.

In the "old" manual I can find the following:

Quote:
1. With the vehicle slowing down, and travelling between 40 km/h (24 mph) and 3 km/h (2 mph), select N.
2. Press the rear of the transfer gear switch to select Lo

Does anyone have any information to why this was changed ?

Thanks in advance.
Olaf

I believe it may be something to do with the 8-speed box because my old MY10 D4 worked up or down on the move, but the MY16 only goes up, bloody annoying when you're used to being able to do it. Thumbs Up

My MY13 already had the 8-speed gearbox and there shifting to lo range on the move worked fine. So it is really "bloody annoying" as you say. Crying or Very sad

The MY13 I had you could change on the move, found out this afternoon that on our MY16 you have to be stationary.
