I have a major dilema, I'm doing more miles too and from work and everything is becoming more expensive but without the wages to match (thanks Labour/greedy banker ). Skoda are doing a deal on their new cars, 0% VAT plus 3 years free servicing, this will mean I'd pay less for insurance, tax (servicing) and get at least twice the mileage for the same amount of diesel.
So, do I sell and buy a Skoda, or keep and endure the financial hardships that owning a Landy brings?
p.s. I love my Disco but have to be a big boy now and make big boy decisions.
p.p.s. Skoda cars are actually bloody good cars not in the same league as a Disco 3 but what is?

I know what your saying as I'm in a similar boat.
However the first day you get in your euro box and trundle off you will hate yourself.
I'm sticking with it for now!

How about keep the Disco and buy an old Skoda/Audi/VW/Seat diesel for commuting in? Works for me!

alot of manufacturers and dealers are doing 0% this with min deposits etc, just watch the mileage conditions, alot say 10k or less per year.
Seen alot of dealers now doing the same deals on "nearly new" less than 12 month old ones now as they compete to shift stock against the manufacturer offering the same on new ones, Past a vauxhall dealer yesterday on tilehurst, reading, berks offering 4 years 0% finance with one months deposit on nearly new vauxhalls

I do too many miles to be able to run the disco full time so my compromise is let swmbo do her commute in the disco 12 miles a day
And I use her Astra diesel 150bhp that I have had mapped for my commute of 80 miles a day does 50mpg plus
Works for us and I get to drive the disco evenings and weekends

Well I couldn't compete against swimbo logic, the deed has been done and I'll soon be discoless but on the good side I'm now on happy pills from the Dr I'm actually quite upset about it all, every time I see my disco I become emotional over my impending loss, I wont be part of a community of like minded Disco nuts, just another plebeian of the faceless majority, I'd like to wish everyone of you all the best and even though I'll be in an Euro box I'll still read and comment if that's ok.

I did similar, bought 60 plate fiat bravo diesel for the wife & i got a BMW GS1200 ADV motorbike.
My fuel bill went from £200 a week to £42.
disco dosen't move much now, toying with the idea of getting a RR Supercharged d4 HSE in Corris Grey with Black options pack
D3 with the following
Alive Tuning EGR blanking kit
Alive Tuning Re-map
Alive Atrics console
Samco intercooler hoses (from Alive Tuning)
Alive Tuning De-Cat pipe, lovely tone!
Retrofit OEM Hybrid TV tuner

You could turn the D3 into an offroad/toy/mini expedition machine. More comfy than a Deafner and will get you to most of same places.
