Service Action Q562 -Tow Eye Cover - 2015/16MY's Only |
|
Vin Range: 758690 - 782009
Quote:A concern has been identified on a number of 2015 - 2016 model year Discovery 4 vehicles may have been manufactured away from process and in some cases, the front towing eye cover does not remain in place.
The front towing eye cover is retained by a push fit (visible side) and 4 quarter turn clips which retain it from underneath. The cover does not fit well into the upper lugs coming loose with the slightest touch/jolt. In its loose position it remains attached however it may come completely away.
Action to be taken
Unsold vehicles must be repaired prior to hand-over of the vehicle for retail sale.
At the next service opportunity you are requested to Visually check and feel for looseness. Part should be fitting into recesses tightly and remain. If loose (pop out) when slight pressure applied at either end on top then remove the old part and replace with newly moulded part.
As always ...this has been released today so not all dealerships may yet be aware. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I would just take it up with your dealer citing Q562 ..I'm sure would hope that they can use some common sense 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Was/is this not also an issue with the D3? It certainly is with my vehicle, on which the towing eye cover plate has been offthe vehicle for more than a year now! One might have hoped that after a decade of refinement they might have got it sorted out by now Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE
Previously:
TD5 Defender 110 CSW (230k miles)
300TDi Disco 1 (289k)

110 V8 CSW (220k)
S3 109 hi cap pickup (ex RN)
S2A 88 Safari SW with lpg conversion (bloody lethal)

Mine's 788530...doesn't pop out...it's just fitted crooked!!! Had enough of pickups: noisy BT-50, unreliable Navara, thirsty Amarok. Now's Disco time!

Has anyone devised a cut-out similar to the one on D3s to allow towing with the cover in place? One of these duff covers would be handy to experiment with. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Yes it was, apparently its the clips that are faulty not the cover itself. Dealer did say if it was not up for a recall they would have sprted it anyway...think they just love my custom

Hmm.... not sure what 'clips' we are referring to..... this doesn't sound to hopeful to be fair. I'm hoping the 'clips' we are referring to are those on the leading edge (to which I have applied self amalgamating tape - with limited success) ...... 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

After reading this thread I checked our new to us 15 plate vin number. Ours was not affected but checked cover anyway. We didn't have one and hadn't noticed it was missing. Quick visit to Hunters Preston one fitted no problem in half an hour including wash and Hoover 02 Defender 90 TD5

My D4 is in the range for tow eye sorting....into dealer for first service and Q560/1/2....all done well nearly parts needed to be ordered for tow eye cover change...got to re book ...I complained that they know the problem why no stock?...they said 'ah well there is a number of different types...we have to identify which one is fitted to your vehicle so we can order in' thought there was only one...anyone know better?
