Service Interval Check
Having recently become a new pround owner of a D3 i want to check the mileage the next oil change is due.
It has been serviced at a LR garage but i am not conviced the oil has been changed. It may be that LR dont think it needs changing yet.
I know the system check on start should warn you when to service.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get to read when the next oil change is required in terms of milage.
Thanks
Alan

If you are not sure if it has been changed - get it changed - oil + filter is not so expensive and does the engine very good. In order to read how many miles are still to go (if it was properly reset during last service) - you need to have a diagnostic device. Or wait unti it will be displayed on your display (after you turn the ignition - it will display how many miles and how many days you have till next service).2013 D4 TDV6 S; Baltic Blue; IID Tool BT

the oil goes black very quickly so that cant be used as an indication.
what mileage are you on ?
if concerned, as said, change it anyway - it can only be good
And Welcome Duncan

Thanks for getting back.
Acording to my service records;
9/2/09 First service (A) was at 17796 mls - Later than it should be.
When I bought the car Car in Nov 09
It had been serviced 29/10/09 Service (B) - On asking I was told the oil had been changed.
Both services were done by a LR garage with the LR dealer stamp in the book.
This dought has arrisen in my mind since i have done many oil changes in the past and have experience of how oil discolours relativly quickly. I was just a little suprised at the colour of the oil - not very black but darker than i would have expected. I guess whilst i should not have to i may change the oil for piece of mind. I tend to keep my cars for a long while and so always keen to give them the best maint.
Cheers
Alan

15.000 is the service interval for long life oil such as castrol edge diesel turbo. If any one has used the cheaper oils thay need replacing around 4-6000miles!.
I look at it like this, £60 for a good oil change using the right lube and regular changes vs an engine or turbo replacement!
always use a genuine filter.
I bought mine and the service record said oil changed only 2000 miles ago ( Set my mind at rest i changed the oil )
